All SAR-endorsed candidates advance to the general election.
Preliminary results show that all five SAR-endorsed Spokane County Commissioner candidates will advance to the general election.

Newcomer Chris Jordan, and current Spokane City Council member Michael Cathcart, will be on the fall ballots for the newest county districts.

Meanwhile, incumbents Josh Kerns, Mary Kuney, and Al French will also advance.

The SAR endorsed all for their positions on housing policy and homeowner protections.

Another newcomer to politics is also advancing - Suzanne Schmidt - who will be one of two candidates on the fall ballot for Washington’s fourth legislative district. (Spokane Valley).

The SAR government affairs committee interviewed each candidate before making its recommendations.

and
Fair Housing Class (6.0 clock hours)

Thursday, August 18th
9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Early Registration: August 8th
Space is limited!

Includes Class, Lunch,
and Quarterly Membership Meeting
All Real Estate Agents licensed in the state of Washington before 6/1/2022 must have this class before 6/1/2023, per DOL guidelines.
DOL has implemented Substitute Senate Bill 5378.

The bill requires education on Fair Housing for new licensees and renewals.

It applies to real estate brokers and managing brokers and went into effect June 1st, 2022.

This is part of the required 30-hour continuing education instruction.

The first active renewal after June 1st, 2022, must include the 6-hour Washington Real Estate Fair housing class. With every renewal afterward, licensees must complete a 3-hour course.

The purpose of this course is to introduce real estate brokers and managing brokers to the federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. 3601 et seq.) and the Washington Law Against Discrimination (chapter 49.60 RCW) as it relates to real estate transactions.

The course will teach real estate brokers and managing brokers the historical and societal context of housing discrimination, legal framework intended to prevent housing discrimination, and steps to take to prevent housing discrimination.

Zoning Changes Help Families
The Spokane City Council, last week, unanimously approved permitting construction of multi-family homes on lots previously zoned for a single residence.

This week, the city began rolling out its messaging around the new policy to say it "is clearing the way to make better use of the limited amount of land available for new housing."

Watch the city's new two-minute video online here:

Spokane County has made it easy to get your answer with a new express link on its Scout website.

Enter an address and the website and it will return an estimate of that parcel's 2023 Spokane County property taxes.
