Spokane: Most Competitive in Country
|
Spokane > The city is currently the most competitive housing market in the country with a Compete Score™ of 89.
That's in part thanks to significant homebuyer interest from out-of-towners-73% of Redfin searches for homes in Spokane come from homebuyers located outside the metro.
"The city has a lot to offer, and I think people are realizing that," Spokane-based Michelle Kendrick, market manager at Redfin, said in an interview Tuesday.
"We have a lot of big city amenities without the traffic. For people coming from a larger town, it's really pleasant for them, and they like the small-town feel and friendliness of people."

SAR Governmental Affairs Brief
|
Spokane County Commissioner
Al French was our guest speaker at the February meeting of the SAR Governmental Affairs Committee, this week (photo below).
"We gotta be investing in housing," Commissioner French said as he spent most of his half-hour visit talking about housing and the growth opportunity ahead of us as more families and companies choose to live and work in Spokane.
"We talk about affordable housing and we continue to make housing more expensive," French said, as he criticized past and present housing policies across our state that add regulatory and tax burdens on housing at the same time demand for housing at all levels continues to grow.

SNAP: Down Payment Assistance
|
Our friends at SNAP (Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners) share word on their Down Payment Assistance Program that offers $10,000 down payment assistance for non-conforming loans.
A non-conforming loan is a loan that fails to meet bank criteria for funding.
Reasons include the loan amount is higher than the conforming loan limit, lack of sufficient credit, the unorthodox nature of the use of funds, or the collateral backing it.
If you have a client who doesn't qualify for a traditional loan, SNAP may be able to help.
