Spokane County Holds at Phase 1

Some counties in Western Washington have been released to Phase 2 easing from the governor's COVID-19 restrictions.

In response, Washington REALTORS® updated its COVID-19 FAQ document, this week.

Phase restrictions apply to the location of a property, not to the Broker's home or office.

While properties listed for sale in certain counties are now eased to Phase 2 restrictions - this does not include Spokane County.

Property Tax Deadline Extended

Spokane County Treasurer Michael Baumgartner shares word that he has authorized an extension on the due-date for First Half 2021 property taxes to May 31st.
 
This one-time one-month extension gives Spokane County taxpayers until the end of May to pay their first-half property taxes without accruing interest or penalty charges.
 
Annual tax statements will arrive in county mailboxes in early March.

Washington REALTORS® is offering a series of lectures and discussions during February - Black History Month.

The first of these features Dr. Quintard Taylor (Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Washington) as keynote speaker for the Washington REALTORS® annual meeting last fall.

Dr. Taylor gives a fascinating overview of housing discrimination in Washington state.

The period photos and historical references alone are worth the watch.

Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer Annie Fitzsimmons is seeing some dangerous business practices occurring in this seller's market.

So, this week, Annie continues a new video series with RE/MAX Integrity Owner Broker Paul Blumenstetter to focus on these dangerous practices with a goal of helping us all avoid them.

Expanding Housing Opportunities

Expanding Housing Opportunities is a 4-hour education course developed by the National Association of REALTORS®.   

This course will be taught by Washington REALTORS® Senior Faculty member Jan Ellingson. 
 
The course is designed to help real estate professionals understand affordable housing issues and how their role in increasing housing opportunities.
Course participants will learn how to:
  • Identify and explain the range of affordable housing opportunities and their benefits to clients.
  • Describe how affordability affects the housing market, their clients, their business, and their community.
  • Better analyze affordable financing options, including local, state, federal, and nonprofit assistance programs for buyers and renters.

The board encourages members to vote "yes."

DOL: "Critical System Error" 

 
 
 
   
 
The Department of Licensing Real Estate Division (DOL) notified Washington REALTORS®, this week, of a system error regarding license status.  
 
This is a critical system error and DOL developers are aware of the issue.  
 
In the meantime, the real estate licensing team at DOL is working to manually correct any firms, branches and licensees that have been impacted by this issue.  
 
If your license status has been erroneously changed to "inactive" status please know this may be a result of the system error and DOL is working to resolve this as soon as possible.
 
Washington REALTORS® will continue to share DOL updates as new information is received.
