Legislative Days 
Legislative Days were a success!

Over 600 REALTORS® from all over Washington State registered for the Legislative Days event, last week.

This year, all events were virtual which allowed many members an opportunity to sample the events of the week without travel and lodging expenses.

WR hosted association committee meetings, several events, and launched a new campaign program highlighting WR's legislative priorites for this session called MyNeighbor.

Condo Reform Advances 
The Washington State Senate passed a bill offering Condo reform, this week.

WR Member Survey Results 
Why does Washington REALTORS® spend so much time and effort to bring the REALTOR® voice to our lawmakers in Olympia?

97% of members, statewide, say involvement in political issues is very/somewhat important (graph below).

88% of members say housing inventory is a very serious/serious problem (graph below).

Dangerous Business Practices 
Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer Annie Fitzsimmons is seeing some dangerous business practices occurring in this seller's market.

So, this week, Annie kicks off a new video series with RE/MAX Integrity Owner Broker Paul Blumenstetter to focus on these dangerous practices with a goal of helping us all avoid them.

Expanding Housing Opportunities

Expanding Housing Opportunities is a 4-hour education course developed by the National Association of REALTORS®.   

This course will be taught by Washington REALTORS® Senior Faculty member Jan Ellingson. 
The course is designed to help real estate professionals understand affordable housing issues and how their role in increasing housing opportunities.
Course participants will learn how to:
  • Identify and explain the range of affordable housing opportunities and their benefits to clients.
  • Describe how affordability affects the housing market, their clients, their business, and their community.
  • Better analyze affordable financing options, including local, state, federal, and nonprofit assistance programs for buyers and renters.
  • Build partnerships to expand housing opportunities through advocacy, workforce housing initiatives, and green building concepts.

Your 2021 SAR Annual dues were due January 1st, 2021.

In order to avoid the 10% late penalty, please make sure you pay them by January 31, 2021- this weekend!

To pay your 2021 SAR annual dues online, click on the button below, which will bring up the login screen for the SAR member portal.

Once online, use the Review and Pay Balance section to make your payment online.

TechHelpline (a complimentary service through Washington REALTORS®) is out, this week, with a brand new article: How safe is your computer? Check out this safety checklist! 
The fact is that Cyberattacks can occur in a variety of ways, including routine things you may do when surfing the web. Malware still can infect your computer, and cybercriminals may steal personal information about you online.
What should you do? Go through a safety checklist of the simple measures you can take to keep your computer from being compromised.
