NEW!
Face coverings will be required everywhere outside your home across Washington State beginning tomorrow -
Saturday, July 25th.
Governor Inslee announced a handful of new restrictions, this week, in an effort to stem the rising number of COVID-19 infections.
"We do not take these steps lightly," Inslee said at a Thursday news conference. "We know every prohibition is a challenge for individuals and business owners. But we know that if we fail to act, we expose people and businesses to even greater risk down the line."
Among the new restrictions: wedding and funeral receptions are prohibited entirely, indoor restaurant patrons must be of the same household in order to sit together, and indoor entertainment and recreation centers must close.
Spokane County remains paused at Phase 2 in the governor's Safe Start recovery plan; Washington state continues to require face coverings in places of public gathering across the state.
View the full Face Covering Requirements document from the governor's office (pictured above) online here.
Spokane County
remains in Phase 2 of the governor's Safe Start Recovery Plan.
Each county's status is based on five risk assessment areas: COVID-19 activity, testing, healthcare system readiness, case investigations and contact tracing, and the protection of populations at higher risk.
You can check the status of any county, any time, on the state's COVID-19 Risk Assessment Dashboard,
online here.

Housing Market Strong Despite Pandemic
|
Spokane County's housing market showed little sign of slowing in June despite the coronavirus pandemic as pent-up demand and low inventory continued to push up prices.
The median closing price in Spokane County increased 11.1% in June to $295,000, compared with $265,623 in June 2019, according to the Spokane Association of Realtors.
The article continues in
The Spokesman-Review
online here.
Nationally, NAR is out with a news release to announce existing-home sales climb record 20.7% in June.
"The sales recovery is strong, as buyers were eager to purchase homes and properties that they had been eyeing during the shutdown," said Lawrence Yun, NAR's chief economist. "This revitalization looks to be sustainable for many months ahead as long as mortgage rates remain low and job gains continue."
In a regional breakdown for our part of the country, NAR says: Existing-home sales in the West ascended 31.9% to an annual rate of 950,000 in June, a 13.6% decline from a year ago. The median price in the West was $432,600, up 5.4% from June 2019.

SAR 3rd Grade Essay/Poster Contest
|
The Spokane Association of REALTORS® is pleased to announce the winners of its 3rd Grade Essay/Poster Contest for 2020 on the theme "What my home means to me."
This annual event attracts dozens of students from public and private elementary schools throughout Spokane County.
This year's contest included a new challenge of coordinating the creation and submission of the entries during a global pandemic when local schools were closed to in-person classes.
The association particularly appreciates the additional effort both teachers and students put forward to make this year's contest such a success.
Thank you to all who entered and our SAR committee members who judged them - and congratulations to our contest winners!
