NEW!
Washington Governor
Jay Inslee, this week,
paused indefinitely all 39 Washington counties in his Safe Start recovery program due to the increasing numbers of infection from COVID-19 across the state.
This means Spokane County will stay at Phase 2 for the foreseeable future.
UPDATED July 20th
Spokane County remains paused at Phase 2 in the governor's Safe Start recovery plan; Washington state continues to require face coverings in places of public gathering across the state.
View the full Face Covering Requirements document from the governor's office (pictured above) online here.
Spokane County
remains in Phase 2 of the governor's Safe Start Recovery Plan.
Each county's status is based on five risk assessment areas: COVID-19 activity, testing, healthcare system readiness, case investigations and contact tracing, and the protection of populations at higher risk.
You can check the status of any county, any time, on the state's COVID-19 Risk Assessment Dashboard,
online here.

Legal Hotline - Transactions you didn't Service
|
NEW!
Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer
Annie Fitzsimmons is on a mission to answer all the questions on the Designated Broker Wish List.
We asked DBs around the state to submit questions or topics of discussion to her via email so she could address them and share them as a Friday Video.
TODAY'S QUESTION:
"My broker received the following question: 'My family found a house and they don't really need your services. They just want to know if you can write it up for us.' or 'I found a buyer for my house and all I need you to do is write it up for us; can you do that?"
How would the Legal Hotline respond to those requests?
If you or your Designated Broker would like to have a question addressed, email [email protected].
Here's Annie's new video - it runs about 10-minutes:

Pandemic Impact on Local Real Estate
|
KXLY-TV multimedia journalist
Maher Kawash interviews 2020 SAR president
Tom Clark at the association office, this week, about the impacts COVID-19 is having on the local real estate market.
This is what we mean when we say your association is "the voice for real estate in Spokane County."
We've seen how COVID-19 has changed almost everything this year, but that doesn't apply to the housing market.
Homes are selling at record prices across Spokane and really across the entire U.S.
Watch the KXLY-TV report online here:
KREM-TV also reported on this topic this week.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, people in the Spokane-area who are selling their homes have continued to see a lot of offers.
With interest rates at a 50 year low, sellers have been getting over 20 offers on their houses.

Winning the Minds and Hearts of Consumers
|
When brokerage and MLS leaders first came together nearly six years ago to discuss the
Broker Public Portal (BPP), I had the good fortune of being in the room.
At the time, real estate search was dominated and operated by ad companies, not brokerage or MLS firms.
The Zillows of the world used our listing data to attract consumers and charged us to connect with customers interested in buying the property.
Worse, consumers were relying more on what the ad companies had to say than their agent.
Ad firms were entrenched in the middle, interfering with the relationship between agents and their clients.
It was time to win back consumers.
To do that, we had to win back real estate search.
