Call for Host Houses: Open House Weekend

NOMINATE YOUR OPEN!

Will you have an open house listed for sale on the weekend of April 27-28?

If so, nominate it now as a Host House for our Open House Weekend!

We'll be looking for three Host Houses, this year, to serve as entry points for the public and media, as well as staging areas for member supplies (balloons, sign riders, etc.).

A Host House must:

  • be within 20-minutes of downtown
  • be available for committee viewing on April 9th
  • be staged and listed for sale during the event (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days)

A Host House gets:

  • media exposure before and during the event
  • public exposure as an entry point to the event
  • member exposure as a supply hub for the event

2016 Host House

To nominate your property to the committee as a Host House, please email Katie McDaris Marks, committee chair, with address, brief description, and a photo or two.

Committee members will visit all Host House nominees on April 9th.

2019 Open House Weekend Host Houses will be announced here in the Weekly Notices on April 12th

Sponsors are now being invited to participate with us in our ninth-annual Open House Weekend event in April!

We have seven event sponsorships available - first come, first served, and category exclusive (no competing companies in the same business).

Sponsors will reach 2,200 SAR broker and affiliate members, and more than 500 (expected) currently active Spokane-area home shoppers - and get a list of all contest entry forms as qualified leads!

SAR Governmental Affairs Brief

Daylight Savings Time may now become permanent as both the House and the Senate have passed differing bills to end a tradition since 1916.

Plus, a number of bills directly affecting real estate have died in the legislature.

Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer Annie Fitzsimmons is just out with a new Legal Hotline video in her series of Real Estate Fundamentals that You Should Know that covers Form 22B: Home Sale Contingency - the singularly most complicated form in the statewide forms system.

This video series will be broken out in three parts:

Part 1: The buyer who satisfies the home sale contingency (link below)

Part 2: The buyer who waives the home sale contingency (posted here next week)

Part 3: Troubleshoot some issues that often come up with the form (available here the week after next)

St. Patrick's Day Parade

THIS WEEKEND!

The 2019 St Patrick's Day Parade is set for Saturday March 16th at 12-noon.

Much of downtown Spokane will be closed for the parade.

This annual parade is one event in Spokane that is open for total community involvement. Regardless of race, creed or color, everyone has just that wee bit of Irish that comes out in full spirit, whether you're a dyed-in-the-wool Irish person or just Irish-for-the-day, this is one event you won't want to miss.

The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick shares word that this year's Grand Marshall will be Tony Lamanna of Inland Honor Flight; Irish Man - Tom Sherry, KREM2 Weathercaster; Irish Woman - Joanne McAtee - The Friendly Son's of St. Patrick

This year's parade is the 41st in Spokane.

Visit the official parade website online here.
