NOMINATE YOUR OPEN!

Will you have an open house listed for sale on the weekend of April 27-28?

If so, nominate it now as a Host House for our Open House Weekend!

We'll be looking for three Host Houses, this year, to serve as entry points for the public and media, as well as staging areas for member supplies (balloons, sign riders, etc.).

A Host House must:

  • be within 20-minutes of downtown
  • be available for committee viewing on April 9th
  • be staged and listed for sale during the event (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days)
  • participate in (purchase) group advertising in The Spokesman-Review and Inlander.
  • make available helium for broker balloons (two 14.9 cu. ft. tanks) both days of the event

A Host House gets:

  • media exposure before and during the event
  • public exposure as an entry point to the event
  • broker exposure as a supply hub for the event

2016 Host House

Committee members will visit all Host House nominees on April 9th.

2019 Open House Weekend Host Houses will be announced here in the Weekly Notices on April 12th

SAR Governmental Affairs Brief

The Washington State Legislature has signaled it may exclude REALTORS® from proposed increases in the State's Business and Occupation Tax (B&O).

Lawmakers are looking at an across-the-board increase in the B&O tax.

Originally, the Governor's budget proposed increasing the state B&O tax on services from 1.5 percent to 2.5 percent (a 67% increase).

The state is doing much better than originally projected, with a budget surplus projected to be near $6-billion.

But state lawmakers believe an additional $1.5 to $2 billion in tax increases are needed.

The Washington REALTORS® Government Affairs team has been working on several other tax areas that will affect the industry, including potential changes in the Real Estate Excise Tax structure, Capital Gains and a potential Sales Tax on Services.

Gmail Tips and Tricks

Gmail by Google is the world's most popular email program: 1.4 billion users. It's robust, simple to set up, easy to use, wickedly fast to search, and for most people, free.

No wonder it's wildly popular among real estate agents.

Gmail has many unknown and little-used features that can be hugely helpful.

But like the secret menu at the West Coast chain In-N-Out Burger, most people don't know what's available.

TechHelpline offers a guide to some great Gmail tips and tricks to help boost your business.

WR: Email Phishing

Email phishing and spoofing continue to become more sophisticated and the frequency that members receive bogus emails have increased.

Please note that WR staff and leadership will NEVER send you an email that asks you to:

--send money to staff or leadership;
--purchase gift cards;
--send donations to individuals (we will occasionally promote the REALTOR® Relief Foundation after a disaster but we do not solicit for donations to individuals)

or

--reveal log on information or passwords.

When in doubt, please give us a call at 360.943.3100 or email [email protected]
