FRIDAY, May 15th

Join 2020 SAR President
Tom Clark as we begin our conversations about Phase 2 of re-opening Washington State from the governor's Stay Home, Stay Healthy order -
that includes REALTORS®.
Our guest will be

LAST WEEK'S ROUNDTABLE
2020 Spokane Association of REALTORS® President
Tom Clark and his co-host 2020 Women's Council of REALTORS® President
Jennifer Shupe welcomed
U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers to the Round-table to talk about federal assistance that is now flowing through financial institutions across the country to local businesses and independent contractors - and new legislation that is making its way through our national legislature to spend even more on pandemic relief.
Also, we held a second Q&A session with the Washington State Employment Security Department on Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).
This time, our guest was the department's Lead Policy Analyst Mariana Hernandez with whom we dove deeper into your questions to help more members make progress on their PUA claims.
See the video of this past Friday's Round-table, online here - it lasts about an hour:

NEW!
REALTORS® across Washington State expect to resume full activity
June 1st under Phase 2 of Governor Inslee's phased approach to re-opening our state.
Washington REALTORS® shares it is working on specific guidance for members and expects to release that document next week.
Meanwhile,
if your business includes serving clients in an office setting, you'll need to have a written procedure for professional services activity before you can open.
This document is quite lengthy (five pages) and what you are required to do is very complicated so the sooner you get started on making these changes to your workplace, and writing them into your policy document, the better off you'll be come opening day.

NEW!
2020 National Association of REALTORS® President
Vince Malta was a Round-table guest with SAR members back in the middle of the shutdown.
He offered some encouraging words, then: we needed to stay focused and stay professional; things were going to get better.
Now, President Vince is back with a video for all REALTORS® as we prepare to re-open our businesses:
"Many times people ask me, 'When are we going to go back to business as usual.' Well, my friends, this is the new norm. Business is not going to start off like turning on a light switch. It's gonna be more like a dimmer switch that is gradually gonna come on."

A new NAR survey of its m

The survey also finds that nearly 3 in 4 REALTORS® currently working with sellers this week - 73% - reported their clients haven't reduced listing prices to attract buyers.

The May-June edition of REALTOR® magazine is out this week with this cover story: How COVID-19 is Changing your Business.
The COVID-19 pandemic dealt a blow to real estate, as it did to nearly every industry, but in their effort to overcome the challenges real estate brokerages and agents displayed resilience, creativity, and drive.
As people adjusted to nationwide sheltering and wondered whether their work would be deemed an "essential service," real estate professionals persevered and found physical isolation often led to broader and deeper engagement with their clients and contacts than they'd had before the crisis.
