Join 2020 SAR President Tom Clark as we welcome U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers to the Round-table to talk about federal assistance that is now flowing through financial institutions across the country to local businesses and independent contractors.

Also, we'll hold a second Q&A session with the Washington State Employment Security Department on Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).

We had the department's commissioner at the Round-table a couple of weeks ago, which was very well received. This time, our guest will be the department's Lead Policy Analyst Mariana Hernandez as we dive deeper into your questions to help more members make progress on their PUA claims.

LAST WEEK'S ROUNDTABLE

Thanks James for joining us!
Another great Round Table.
Thanks James, Tom and Darin!

Our President's Round-table event this past Friday was our sixth online gathering to keep members in touch with important information during the governor's "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order - which the governor has extended through the end of May.  (You can read more about that in The Spokesman-Review, online here).

2020 SAR President Tom Clark convened Friday's Round-table with his guest, James Young, Director of the Center for Real Estate Research at the University of Washington (Runstad Department of Real Estate; College of Built Environments).

SAR Governmental Affairs Director Darin Watkins helped steer the conversation with the latest information available from his community sources.

While freezing our national economy to defend against a virus has myriad impacts on individuals and costs we don't fully realize yet, Dr. Young shared his opinion that the future holds many advantages for business and real estate growth in Spokane and the Inland Northwest.

NEW!

Washington State is now under Phase 1 of a four phase plan (pictured above) to reopen the state economy.

As of yesterday, May 5th, these activities are now permitted:
  • Drive-in spiritual services with one household per vehicle
  • Auto/RV/Boat/ORV sales
  • Retail open for curb-side pick-up orders only
  • Car washes
  • Landscaping
  • Some pet services (not including grooming)
  • Essential travel and limited non-essential travel to engage in Phase 1 activities is permitted.
These activities are in addition to construction activity and outdoor activities (such as fishing, hunting, playing golf, and some park access) that were relaxed last week.

Real estate activities are included in Phase 2, though there is no announced date of when that will be implemented - at least three weeks away.

Governor Inslee said this when he announced his plan this week:
"This phased approach to re-opening our economy will allow us to move forward with a careful and thoughtful balance of our state's health and economic needs. However, if infection rates and hospitalizations for COVID-related issues go up, I would not hesitate to scale these efforts back down to protect public health and save lives.

I fully recognize the impact this is having on families, workers and businesses, but we have not yet won the fight against this virus," Inslee continued. "We continue to see infection rates, hospitalizations and deaths across the state from COVID-19."

Filing for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) is open and claims are being processed.

PUA allows independent contractors and self employed individuals to qualify for a claim, who were never eligible before.

The Washington Employment Security Department (ESD) received one-million claims just last week.

ESD hosted an explainer webinar for Washington REALTORS®, two weeks ago.

Paragon Adds Live Stream Open House

NEW!

Itching to hold an open house this spring but holding off until it's safe to do so?

You can go ahead and do that today - if you hold a Live Streaming Open House or a Live Steaming Tour!

Live streaming is sharing video to a live audience through the internet. This is different from uploading the video to the web and the viewers downloading a full video's data before watching it (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo).

Use this new feature to host a Live Stream Open House for the Public or to schedule a Live Stream Tour (Broker Open) for a group of agents in your area.

Homebuyers or agents can join your Live Stream Open House/Tour and view video via the camera on your phone, or via a shared presentation.

Anyone who joins will generally be able to ask you questions in real time.

Your SAR has prepared a resource page to help you get started on your first Live Stream Open House:

Second-quarter MLS Fee Relief

FEE RELIEF

Your SAR Board of Directors has approved one-time fee relief for Second Quarter Dues - adding 60 days to the due date - because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

This means your payment for Second Quarter Dues is due at the end of this month, May 31st.

If you'd like to take care of this now, click on the button below:

Ferry, Pend Oreille, Stevens County Form

Below is a declaration an applicant can fill out declaring the project as existing construction, or the work is required as part of a real estate transaction.

Once completed, this will allow the Northeast Tri County Health District to process and review the septic application.

This is a potential market of 72.1 million people.
