Taco Tuesday at the SAR!
First-ever Event a Great Success!
Two More Planned this Month!
|
The SAR convened its first "Taco Tuesday" in the parking lot of the association this past Tuesday.
Because it was such a success, association leadership immediately approved two more Taco Tuesdays through the end of the month.
The event was organized by members of the SAR Communications Committee. 2021 Committee Chair Katie McDaris Marks wore a t-shirt appropriate for the occasion: "Will give real estate advice for tacos."
|
This event was born of the fact that about 400 new association members have only known a closed office (though services continued virtually) due to government orders to close our building to the public as a defense against the CoViD-19 global pandemic.
Several new members who attended the luncheon remarked that they had never been inside their association building before today.
Three posts on the SAR Facebook page during the event reached more than 1,000 people by Tuesday night.
|
Comments shared on the SAR Facebook page:
Thank you, SAR! What a fun event. Plus. The tacos were BOMB!

A good time was had by all! Let's do it again next week!

By Popular Demand!
Two More Taco Tuesdays at the SAR:
Tuesday, September 21st / 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, September 28th / 11:30 a.m.
|
Mark your calendar now and plan to join us next week for Taco Tuesday at the SAR!
Sasquatcho Taco will begin serving at 11:30 a.m. and will end around 1:30 p.m. - or whenever the food runs out, whichever comes first.
If you have a new colleague in the office, invite them to join you for lunch, meet SAR leadership and staff, and check out your building at 1924 North Ash Street.
|
We cooked for 60 this week and ran out of food when more than that number showed up for lunch. We'll be ordering more for the two upcoming events.
The Sasquatcho Taco truck offered a choice of four tacos with sides. The servings were generous; the reviews were very positive.
|
2021 SAR President Eric Johnson was spotted in the crowd visiting with members and enjoying lunch.
SAR Immediate Past-president Tom Clark also attended the event.
These two individuals lead our organization through two of the most challenging years to be a REALTOR®.
It felt good to enjoy lunch together outdoors in the sunshine when, for most of the past two years, we could not.

Counselors of Real Estate
Coming to Spokane!
|
NAR's Counselors of Real Estate's CRE® Consulting Corps has been engaged by the Spokane Association of REALTORS® to address housing supply issues in Spokane, Washington, as the city's lack of housing production has contributed to escalating home prices and low vacancy rates.
The unmet demand is particularly acute for moderate and lower-priced homes. Housing demand is expected to increase as the National Association of Home Builders identifies Spokane among the top 20 markets for home price growth, and NAR has named Spokane among the top 10 post-Covid real estate markets.
The CRE® Consulting Corps is developing an unbiased, objective review of relevant demographic and housing data, examining barriers to development, sharing best practices, and presenting implementable solutions to increase housing options that will meet the full range of the city's housing needs.
NAR's Counselors of Real Estate will be in Spokane the week of September 27th.

Information-only Inspections
|
Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline attorney, Annie Fitzsimmons, pulls another Legal Hotline Q & A from the mailbag to discuss in this week's Video Update.
"When the sale failed to close, this turned into a three week battle over earnest money as buyer terminated the contract via the form 35R (Inspection Contingency Termination Notice).
My question is, how best can buyer broker draft an offer giving buyer the ability to perform an inspection - not to ask seller to make any repairs or concessions, but to help determine if buyer wants to proceed with the transaction?"
Annie answers in this new seven-minute video:

Successfully Selling HUD Homes
THIS CLASS REQUIRES A SPEAKER & YOU TO BE ON CAMERA. BE PREPARED!
Tuesday, Sept. 28th; 9 a.m. – Noon
Instructor: Grace Chiquette
Since HUD is a major mortgage lender, they also must deal with foreclosures, like any other lender. In the event of a foreclosure, HUD will have to sell the defaulted property to get back the money lost on the loan. Since HUD deals with such a high volume of mortgages, they are well equipped to handle a high level of foreclosures as well. HUD ends up selling a great deal of foreclosures throughout the country every year, and for buyers and real estate investors, they can be very profitable purchases. HUD homes often sell for anywhere from 30% to 60% less than their market value, simply because they are foreclosures.
Grace is a local listing broker who will teach you the basics, sometime saving tips and shares resources to help you understand and grow your business by selling HUD Homes and other local foreclosures. Grow your business by expanding your knowledge.
