"My center is the heart of every lover.

Every lover with a heart that loves Baba is a center."

Meher Baba

At Meher Center, 1956

Dear Meher Center Family and Friends,

A loving Jai Baba. The Center was blanketed with five inches of snow this past week, turning the retreat into a beautiful winter landscape. Old timers remember that this hasn’t happened for several decades.

As a result, for the past few days the Center has been closed to day visitors out of concern for the safety of guests and staff. We plan on reopening for day visiting tomorrow, Saturday, January 25. Overnight guests have continued to be welcomed during this period.

Amartithi celebrations on Center will start on January 30th at 8 p.m. with a program at the Meeting Place. The next morning, an Amartithi program will be held in the Barn on Friday, January 31st beginning at 11:30 a.m. Directly after the program, rice and dal will be served at the Refectory. Day visiting hours will be extended that day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. That evening the Center will host an entertainment program at the Meeting Place.

In Satara, India in 1954 Meher Baba said:

“O my lovers, I love you all! It is only because of my love for my creation that I have descended on Earth. Let not your hearts be torn asunder by my declarations concerning the dropping of my body. On the contrary, accept my Divine Will cheerfully. You can never escape from me. Even if you try to escape from me, it is not possible to get rid of me. Therefore, have courage and be brave.” *

In Meher Baba's love and service,

New Display at Baba's House

A new display at Baba’s House to commemorate Amartithi, the “eternal date” of Meher Baba’s dropping His form “to live eternally in the hearts of all his lovers”:

Two precious cloths that were placed on Beloved Baba’s body the day of His passing, January 31st, 1969 are on view. A handkerchief used to wipe His forehead, and a pink cloth, once laden with flowers, that covered His body as He lay in state.

Other items on display include a spoon, a towel and a bar of Pears soap housed in a soap case, each used by Baba during the month of January 1969.

The “Last Photo” of Baba taken December 22nd, 1968, hangs in the men mandali’s bedroom.

The New Life: Then and Now

Part Three

In part three of this series, Ward Parks focuses on the part of the New Life set in North India, particularly Dehradun and New Delhi. He also explores Baba's work with sadhus at the Kumbh Mela, internal conflicts, the intensive Labor Phase and the ghee business. Throughout, Ward uses Baba's words on the New Life to recreate the unmatchable atmosphere.

"Leave it to Him"

Francis Brabazon was an Australian poet and artist who first heard of Meher Baba in the late 1940s, and after several years of trying, was able to meet Him in Myrtle Beach in 1952. He went on to live with Baba in India, and became a member of His mandali. At Meher Baba's request, Francis wrote what was to become his most significant work, entitled "Stay with God." Meher Baba said that it was "the most important book after God Speaks." In this audio, we hear the master poet read out a section of the his book which pleased Baba so much.
