"My center is the heart of every lover.

Every lover with a heart that loves Baba is a center."

Meher Baba

At Meher Center, 1956

Dear Meher Center Family and Friends,

As you have likely read in our previous emails, the Center is currently taking extra precautions around Covid. However, we are also eager for Baba’s lovers near and far to have access to His home, and programs dedicated to Him, as soon as possible. With this in mind, the following is the Center’s plan for reopening. Please note that masks will still be required indoors.

  • November 10-13: Young Adult Sahavas (reserved for Center overnight guests).
  • November 16: Day visiting resumes at the Center. Baba’s House, the Library, Reading Room, Original Kitchen, and Recreation Room will all be open during the usual times and days going forward.
  • November 20: Arti at the Barn at 9:30 a.m.
  • November 24: Programming begins at the Center, including evening programs, afternoon teas, and question and answer sessions.

We look forward to welcoming the nearby community as Meher Center reopens for day visiting.

As we expect continued uncertainty about viral activity during the oncoming winter, please note that our safety guidelines for day visiting have changed in the following way: going forward, signage will be posted on our public buildings to let you know about masking requirements and building closures.

We also would like to announce some changes to the Meher Center Board of Directors starting in 2023. We are excited to introduce new board members Jasmine Patel from Portland, Oregon and Naozer Dadachanji from Lafayette, CA.

In addition, the board wants to wholeheartedly thank Bob Ahrens, Anna Lena Phillips Bell and Bruce Felkner for their many years of loving service at Meher Center for their Lord and Master Avatar Meher Baba. Your dedication and creativity has been so appreciated by all who have worked with you.

In Baba’s love and service,

Buz Connor

Family Letters #46

Read by Philip Creager

19:47

These are readings of a collection of letters written by Mani, Meher Baba’s sister, to the Western family of Baba lovers between 1956 and 1969.

"The most outstanding person"

In this video, Louis and Vivian Agostini share glimpses of their experiences with Baba. Louis worked for Paul Brunton, the spiritual thinker who wrote The Search for Secret India. Initially, Louis was put off by Brunton’s unflattering description of Meher Baba. But when Louis read God Speaks, its “depth and simplicity” changed the course of his life. Vivian, an artist, describes her deep desire to create a likeness of Baba. She eventually created a small Baba medal trying to capture the “unforgettable grandeur of expression in His eyes.” Mani told her that Baba was very pleased with it, and that it was one of the best portraits done of Him.

"Everything that happens to me is Baba's wish"

In part two of this talk, Mehroo Billimoria shares several meaningful experiences with Meher Baba, starting with her daughter's encounter with Him following a severe case of diphtheria. She goes on to talk about humorous incidents that took place around Baba, Baba's understanding of her eldest son (who ended up taking care of her at the end of her life), and her last encounter with Baba in 1956.
