"My center is the heart of every lover.

Every lover with a heart that loves Baba is a center."

Meher Baba

At Meher Center, 1956

Dear Meher Center Family and Friends,

A loving Jai Baba from Meher Center. The retreat has been unusually quiet for the past few days, as pilgrims have departed and Center staff are preparing for the 36th Youth Sahavas. Today, most of the 70 volunteers will be arriving to take up the millions of tasks in preparation for the young people to arrive next

Tuesday afternoon. There is a lovely spirit in the air of working together for God and for the benefit of others.

Regarding service for God, Meher Baba has said:

“Do whatever needs to be done, but do it as a spiritual being, as one who knows he is divine by nature and united with the whole of life in essence.

“Do it as if you were doing it for Me or for God.

“Do it with equal consideration for the interest for all concerned, for God is equally in each.

“Do it with the utmost concentration, yet with utter detachment from the result of action. Leave the fruits of action to Me or to God.

“Do it as if it were the most important thing in the universe, yet let it be destroyed, or ignored, or ridiculed, without concern; or let it be praised, without elation. Leave the response to Me or to God.

“Do it, in short, as if you were not doing it at all, but as if I or God were doing it through you.” *

In Baba's Love and Service,

Buz Connor,

For Meher Center board and staff

“Being around the mandali was supreme, so much beyond what I was experiencing with meditation”

Rich Blum’s Baba story is rich with quietly dramatic events. They include a brief stint in an iron lung as a foreign exchange student and, much later, building a successful software business only to lose it all. He first heard Meher Baba’s name when he was a 17-year-old high schooler while watching the David Susskind Show in his living room in Pittsburgh. He describes his early introduction after that as a series of “one chance in a million” experiences. They include being in a high school in the late 1960s where four other students had not only heard about Baba, but had also been to Myrtle Beach. Then in college, the student in the dorm room next to his had also heard about Baba, but his grandmother had actually met Him in 1952. And that’s just for starters.

Sitar Concert by Michael Siegell

Michael Siegell enthralls the audience with his exquisite sitar musical performance, beautifully accompanied by his wife Lakshmi on tanpura and Cliff Hackford on tabla. He trained extensively in Indian classical music and also played with Pandit Ravi Shankar! In 2018, Michael had the golden opportunity of being the first invited artist to inaugurate the Artist-in Residence program at Meher Center. In between his heavenly songs, Michael shares a few stories of his life and explains the spiritual, poetic significance of the sitar.
