LOWER SCHOOL

Spring Forward... Together!

Ah yes… Daylight Saving Time—that magical moment when we all pretend losing an hour of sleep is “no big deal.” While adults sip extra coffee, our infants and toddlers may be wondering why bedtime suddenly arrives while the sun is still partying outside.

But don’t worry—we’ve got you.

A few days of wobbly schedules are totally normal, and our teachers are ready to help your little ones ease into new nap times with patience, gentleness, and maybe an extra lullaby or two. We’re all adjusting right alongside them!

If bedtime at home feels a bit chaotic-but-cute this week, you’re in good company. With consistent routines, a little humor, and maybe a deep breath (or three), everyone will settle in before long.

Shift slowly

Try moving bedtime 10–15 minutes earlier for a couple nights to gently ease into the new schedule.

Keep the routine predictable.

Same songs, same snuggles, same “Yes, it is bedtime even though the sun disagrees.”

Dark is your friend.

Blackout curtains can help little bodies believe it really is sleep time (even if birds are still chirping like it’s a brunch date).

Offer extra comfort.

A bit more reassurance, rocking, or quiet time can help everyone settle into the new rhythm.

And remember: it’s temporary!

Kids bounce back surprisingly fast—and adults eventually catch up too… with enough coffee.

We’re springing forward, adjusting bedtimes, and cheering each other on—every yawny step of the way.

UPPER SCHOOL

Spring Break

Spring break is a great time for families to reconnect and enjoy activities that are both fun and healthy. Spending time outdoors is one of the best options. Visiting a local park, nature preserve, or beach allows families to walk, bike, play sports, or simply enjoy fresh air together are great family-fun activities. Exploring places like the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve or the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens can give kids a chance to learn about nature while staying active. Families can also pack a healthy picnic with fruits, sandwiches, and plenty of water, turning the outing into a full day of safe and meaningful bonding.

Another family-friendly option is visiting educational and interactive attractions that encourage curiosity and learning. Museums, zoos, aquariums, and science centers provide engaging experiences for kids of all ages while keeping activities structured and safe. For example, families in the area often enjoy trips to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens or the Orlando Science Center, where children can explore exhibits, learn about animals or science, and participate in hands-on activities.

Planning a mix of outdoor exploration and educational experiences helps families stay active, learn new things, and create positive memories together during spring break.

Week 8 – Emotional Health & Immunity

Seasonal focus: Connection

  • Stress can weaken immunity in children, too.
  • Encourage daily check-ins: “How was your day?”
  • Laughter boosts immune-supporting hormones.
  • Family routines help kids feel safe and regulated.

🥩 HEALTH TIP: WHY PROTEIN MATTERS FOR METABOLISM & FAT LOSS

Protein is one of the most powerful nutrients when it comes to energy, metabolism, and body composition.

Here’s why it matters:

• Boosts metabolism – Your body burns more calories digesting protein than carbs or fats.

• Supports fat loss – Higher protein intake helps maintain lean muscle while reducing body fat.

• Keeps you fuller longer – Protein helps control appetite and prevents overeating.

• Builds and repairs muscle – Essential for athletes, growing kids, and active adults.

Simple ways to increase protein intake:

✔ Eggs or Greek yogurt for breakfast

✔ Chicken, fish, or lean beef at meals

✔ Protein smoothies after training

✔ Nuts, cottage cheese, or protein bars for snacks

A good general target for active individuals is about 0.7–1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day to support performance, metabolism, and recovery.

Strong bodies are built through smart training and smart nutrition.
