True Colors: This is SPA

When our school implemented free dress to support families displaced by the wildfires, our Third Grade girls made a touching choice: They decided to wear their uniforms in solidarity with their classmate, Miller Dunne, who had to evacuate her home.

Above: Third grade students wear their uniforms despite free dress options

During their rushed evacuation, Miller’s packing was very limited but she did have uniforms! This moved her classmates to wear their own uniforms to show support.

Thank you, Third Graders, for reminding us that the SPA uniform is more than just clothing – it's a symbol of our unity and strength as a community.

We warmly invite all mothers to join us for an afternoon of peace, prayer, and connection—a space to heal, uplift one another, and embrace the gift of sisterhood. Let us come together in faith and love, knowing that in unity, we can begin to rebuild and find hope.

Our keynote speaker, Kasi Beaney, is tailoring her presentation to address the needs within our community after last week's fires:

Anchored in Hope: Finding Strength and Love in Life’s Storms

Life’s storms can feel relentless—grief, loss, and uncertainty crashing over us like waves. But even in the darkest moments, hope anchors us. It reminds us that healing, love, and restoration are possible, one step at a time.

This year’s Mother’s Luncheon is dedicated to honoring and remembering the beautiful life and legacy of Sister Stella Enright. In the wake of the fires that have deeply impacted our community, we gather not only to celebrate her memory but also to find strength, comfort, and unity. Sister Stella’s unwavering faith and kindness remind us to invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts as we navigate this difficult time.

Father's Club Family Movie Night

As part of Catholic School Week, the SPA Father’s Club is excited to host a Family Movie Night in the SPA schoolyard on Friday, January 31, at 6:15 pm.

In the wake of the recent fires, it’s more important than ever to come together as a community, offering support and strength to one another. This event will provide a chance for our school families to gather, reconnect, and enjoy an evening of fellowship.

Pizza, popcorn, drinks, and candy will be provided to all attendees. Please bring blankets or chairs to sit on.

This is a free event open to all SPA families. To help us ensure there’s enough food and drinks for everyone, please register at the link below.

We look forward to seeing you there as we come together in unity and support for one another!

The PWC Outreach team has also organized a family-to-family relief effort where you can sign up to donate specific items that families in our community need. Read more details about this effort in our email from last week here.

Please note we are ONLY accepting supplies on this list-- no used clothes, household items, etc.

You can view the needs and sign up to contribute at the link below:

We need volunteers to help us organize the supplies donated to the relief effort. The first volunteer opportunity will be Thursday, January 23. Please use the link below to sign up for one or more spots.

The Archdiocese is also raising funds to support fire relief in the greater Los Angeles region. You can contribute to the ADLA effort using the link below:

Responding to a disaster of this scale will be a marathon not a sprint, and additional hands on volunteering opportunities will be announced as needs arise.

Thank you for your generosity.

Sandwich Builders

We are mindful that many in our community have been devastated by the recent fires, and that many others are doing all they can to help the fire victims by housing evacuees, donating supplies and money, and supporting the first responders so they can continue their important work. Our hearts go out to all evacuees, and we are so appreciative and grateful for the efforts of everyone helping them.

Even while this crisis directly affects our community, the unhoused population served by the Union Rescue Mission in downtown remains in need. Thus, we are continuing our scheduled Sandwich Builder evenings to provide lunches to URM with our next event on Friday, January 24th

We encourage you to participate if you can. 5th grade and Kindergarten are the host grades this month, but we encourage all grades to sign up and participate. Please sign up at the link below to bring supplies. Sandwich making will start at 530pm, and lunch assembly will start around 5:45/6:00pm

Thank you all for your continued generosity and concern for those in need.
