Second and Third Graders: Join us for Math Kangaroo!

What is Math Kangaroo?

Math Kangaroo is a fun and engaging international mathematics competition held every year. St. Paul the Apostle (SPA) will host the competition for our registered students on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM on campus.

This exciting event features a 75-minute multiple-choice test with 24 thought-provoking math problems designed to challenge and inspire students in grades 2 and 3. Each participant will receive a small gift and a certificate of participation as a recognition of their effort.

How to Register:

To sign up for the competition, visit the official Math Kangaroo registration site here:

Register for Math Kangaroo 2025

Alternatively, you can use our SPA-specific invitation code: CALOS_A0047001@2025MK if you encounter any issues with the link. Please note, our current testing site can accommodate 30 students. If spots are filled when you try to register, contact us so we can see if we can secure a larger space to accommodate everyone.

Registration Fees:

  • $18.00 until December 31, 2024
  • $35.00 from January 1 to February 1, 2025

Important Details:

  • Voluntary Participation: The competition is meant to be a fun, low-pressure experience!
  • For more information, please reach out to our Math Kangaroo Parent Manager, Kishan Gupta at kishang@sbcglobal.net.

Pre-Competition Support:

To help students prepare, we will offer an after-school curriculum on select Fridays from January to March 2025. This will focus on key Math Kangaroo concepts like problem-solving, patterns, and logic puzzles. The program will be limited to 15 students in grades 2 and 3 and will be led by parent volunteers. Participation in the after-school curriculum is optional, and it is not required for participation in the competition. Additional details about the after school curriculum and registration available on Sawyer.

We look forward to seeing many of our students participate in this exciting math event!

Service Opportunities

The upcoming holiday season is an opportunity to reflect on the many blessings our SPA community has been given. We hope you will joyfully participate in the opportunities we will be providing over the next few weeks to share these blessings with our neighbors. Thank you for your generosity!

Sandwich Builders

On November 22, the 6th and 1st grade families (and anyone else who wants to join!) will come together starting at 5:30 pm for our community's monthly Sandwich Builders event. The goal is to make at least 800 lunches for the Union Rescue Mission Downtown LA at each event.

Throughout the year, each grade will have an opportunity to cohost a Sandwich Builders evening, but all are welcome to participate/donate each month!

Please help make this event a success by signing up to donate supplies or your time. Although 6th and 1st grades are hosting this month, EVERYONE is welcome to donate and participate!
