Red Tie Bash
RTB News
The countdown for the hottest event has begun! The Red Tie Bash is on April 9. Help support this event, PTO’s biggest fundraiser, by donating to the auction! 

Auction Items
Donate and get a chance to attend the RTB for free!
Next Monday and Tuesday, March 14 & 15, we will be having a special donation drop-off at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. A table will be set up by the picnic tables to receive the items. 

If you drop off an item on either of these days, you will be entered into a drawing to win one (1) ticket to the Red Tie Bash!!

Items should value $100 or greater. Money or gift cards will be accepted too!

Jog-a-thon
Thank you from your 2022 Jog-a-thon Team!

We want to congratulate all our St. Philip students and our SPAS families for flying past the stars in this year’s Jogathon! This year, we raised $84,000 for the school, surpassing our goal of $70,000! This is a new school record!

Our Top 3 Fundraising Classes are:
KA - Mrs. Almquist
TKA - Mrs. Waggoner
1A - Mrs. Khalaf 

Honorable mentions go out to our 4th and 5th place finishers:
3B - Mrs. Coronado - also achieved 100% registration and 100% participation 
7A - Ms. Medlin - also our top middle school class

All 5 of our top classes have won an ice cream party - Congratulations!

Thank you to our mighty team of family volunteers and to all of our teachers & staff for making this event so special and fun. It truly takes a village to organize and run such a smooth event and we are so grateful to you, our school community, for your help! LC and PLC Volunteers
The Learning Commons and Primary Learning Center are in great need of help. Please sign up to help shelve books. Available times are Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 10 am and Friday all day. Please email Ms. Leah at lweidman@stphiliptheapostle.org if you are interested in volunteering.
2022-23 Calendar Snapshot
Meet the Teacher Day will be Tuesday, August 23rd and the last day of school will be June 15th. The complete calendar will be released at a later date. You can find the calendar snapshot for the 2022-23 school year here.
Popsicle Sales
Our current 7th grade class is bringing back popsicles! All proceeds will go towards their 8th grade Washington DC trip. Click here for flyer.
Yearbook Contest
The yearbook committee has opened the contest for the yearbook cover. This year the design has to reflect the following SLE:

  • Demonstrate global awareness through the acceptance of cultures, knowledge of the world’s religions, and concern for our environment.

Students can use white non-glossy paper (letter size) and bold colors. The due date is Friday March 25, 2022. They can turn it into a BOX that's labeled and it's located in the school front office. 
Camp Falcon 2022
Camp Falcon 2022 will run for 6 weeks. This includes club activities, movie days, and special camper's surprises. Click here for more information. To register click here.

Please remember to check your child(ren) into Procare every morning.
Financial Aid
Applications are available on our website now for the Catholic Education Foundation Tuition Assistance Program. Please review the parameters as they have expanded to include more income levels. Please apply if you qualify!

Hello SPAS families! Your New Family Mentor Co-Chairs are looking for current families to help welcome next year's newest Falcons. Whether you are a veteran mentor or new to this job, we can use your help! Send us an email at: newfamilymentor@stphiliptheapostle.org if you’re interested in meeting our new families and earning some hours.
Used Uniform Office Hours
The Used Uniform Committee will be holding office hours the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. Stop by the PTO Closet, outside of the Ministry Center, on Friday 3/18 from 8 am to 9am if you are in need of used uniforms or would like to drop off donations. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Used Uniform Committee at uniforms@stphiliptheapostle.org.

Surveillance Testing
We encourage everyone to test this week. However, if tested positive for covid within the last 90 days, please do not test unless advised to do so by a healthcare professional. Recently positive persons may continue testing positive for up to 90 days.

Make sure to send your child with the completed lab form and include your email address to receive results. Click here for the lab form.

Do not email your lab forms without first speaking with someone in the front office.

Summer School
Mark your calendars!! We are excited to announce that Summer school will be offered again this year for incoming K - 5 students! Classes will take place during the weeks of June 20th-24th and June 27th -July 1st. Information about classes offered will be available soon.

Volunteer Requirement Update Effective 2/15/22
All volunteer requirements must be up to date in order to volunteer on campus:

  • Virtus
  • TB
  • LiveScan Fingerprinting
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (14 days after second dose of a 2-dose regimen, and boosted if booster-eligible) or negative covid test within 24 hours of your volunteer time. Either a PCR or an antigen test is fine for this proof.

You will not be allowed to volunteer on campus for school or PTO events if anything is missing. If you are not sure, contact Estela Deocampo at (626)795-9691.

Please send a copy of vaccination cards including booster shot information for parents and students to vaccination@stphiliptheapostle.org

If you need school hours, but do not meet all requirements, please contact pto@stphiliptheapostle.org, and we will help to find off campus alternatives. 

You are required to complete service hours for Tuition Plans A/C regardless of vaccination status.

Parish
7th Grade Volunteers Needed
The Parish is looking for 7th grade student volunteers to help with Children's Liturgy on Sunday.

This service will be during the Sunday 9 AM Mass and will involve coordinating the young children, ages 4-8, who are in Mass to process from the Church to the Ministry Building during the Liturgy of the Word. Parent volunteers will take the lead and the students will assist them and may eventually take on leadership roles.

During the 20 minute or so gathering in the Ministry Building, we will proclaim the readings and then have a short talk with discussion led by adults. There will be children’s activities as well. We will return to the church together just prior to the start of the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

We will meet in the Sacristy at 8:45 every Sunday. If your 7th grade student is interested, they can contact Michael Grace at mgrace@stphiliptheapostle.org.
Bucket & Bundle Sunday
Sunday, March 27th St. Vincent de Paul’s truck will visit us to pick up your gently used clothing and household items. There will be doughnuts and coffee — and there might be more! It will also be the day your St. Philip Vincentians gratefully gather your loose change and other donations to continue our ministry of helping neighbors in our area with essentials like rent, utilities, food, and car repair. If you’d like to keep your Lenten almsgiving local, we can help with that! Thank you for your continued support. 
St. Vincent de Paul Buckets
St. Vincent de Paul volunteers will be passing out coin buckets on Tuesday, March 8, to cars in line to pick up students after school. Signal them if you’d like one.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is back! 3 days only: Monday thru Wednesday, August 1-3 (9am to noon)
Registration will open in March.
