Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

I hope that everyone enjoyed the three-day weekend. It is nice to have a little break after the rush of the opening days of school.

I know that the construction on the streets around the school has been frustrating but this makes it all the more important that we all be patient. Please never enter the lot from Cordova Street and never ignore cones by driving over them (yes, this happens) or around them. We know that all of the procedures can be confusing, especially for grandparents who may be dropping off or picking up so let’s all be patient and understanding.

If you see an unhoused person on or around campus please notify us. If you feel that you need to call the police do so, but then let us know. Otherwise, the police show up and we don’t even know why they were called. Every morning we walk the campus and around the city block to check that all is well. Additionally, Metro Patrol walks the inside of the building each morning, before any of us enter. We do sometimes have unhoused persons on church grounds but for the most part, they are good about leaving when we ask them to. If they refuse to leave, we do call the police.

Did you know that every student receives a book from me to celebrate their birthday? We also celebrate our students at Monday Morning Assembly on the week of their birthday. We announce the birthdays for that week from Sunday to Saturday. If we have a Monday off, we celebrate that week’s birthdays during the assembly the week before. If you want to be at the assembly when your child is celebrated but you are not sure when it will be, feel free to email me and I will let you know.

Have a wonderful week,

Jennifer

PS Don't forget about Back to School Nights this week.
