Good morning from the Faculty and Staff at Cristo Rey Boston High School!

We are shifting the timing of the weekly email from Sunday afternoons to Friday mornings to allow more time for you to plan for the week ahead.

This edition of our weekly newsletter includes information and reminder on:

'20- '21 Registration Forms

On Wednesday and Thursday, you should have received notifications about completing this year’s registration forms on FamilyID. We are putting all these important forms—such as the 2020-2021 Parent Student Handbook, emergency contact information and emergency medical authorization—online to avoid using paper during COVID. Please fill out these important forms as soon as possible; they should only take 5-10 minutes.

Online Tutoring Opportunity for All Students

UPchieve is a nonprofit that connects students with personalized, 24/7 math and science tutoring as well as college counseling support.

Right now UPchieve offers tutoring in all high school level math courses (Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus BC), as well as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

UPchieve can also provide students with basic college advice and help them draft and edit application essays.

Students can check their eligibility for a free account by going to app.upchieve.org or downloading the UPchieve mobile app for iOS or Android.

Here’s how it works:

● Any student can use UPchieve 24/7 from any device (laptop, tablet, or mobile).

● Within 5-10 minutes of making a request, the student is with a certified

volunteer tutor in a virtual classroom.

● Students get an unlimited amount of free tutoring sessions!

Finalized Schedule for PSAT & SAT Testing

Seniors (SAT): Wednesday, October 14 at 10 AM

Sophomores (PSAT): Wednesday, October 14 at 10 AM

Juniors (PSAT): Thursday, October 29 at 10 AM

Freshmen (PSAT): Thursday, October 29 at 10 AM

The SAT and PSAT are mandatory for all students because they provide important opportunities for college readiness as well as scholarships. In order to provide for maximum social distancing, we will only be testing two grades each date. This will allow us to space desks more than 6ft apart in all rooms at all times.

Monday, October 12: No School (Indigenous Peoples Day)

Wednesday, October 14: SAT for 12th Grade, CWSP for Juniors, PSAT for 10th Grade, Freshman will have an independent remote work day—classes will not meet

Thursday, October 29: PSAT for 9th Grade and 11th Grade

Tuesday, November 3: No School (Election Day)

Friday, November 6: End of 1st Quarter

Wednesday, November 11: No School (Veteran’s Day)
