New Opportunities for Prayer and Study This October
Adult Formation: October with C.S. Lewis
The "October with C. S. Lewis" Adult Formation offerings continue this Sunday at 9:00 a.m. on the 2nd floor of the Parish Life Center. Ian Finley, our resident C. S. Lewis enthusiast and recent presenter, has personally prepared an abridged script of Lewis' most famous work - The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe - for us to share together and explore its significance as a Christian parable. To volunteer as a reader please contact class coordinator Lynn Hoke receive a copy of the text, with your assigned reading section noted.
Mere Christianity - Audio Book
For those joining us for Adult Formation this month to discuss C.S. Lewis, this is the audio book of Mere Christianity recommended in the session:

Morning Prayer, each day at 9:00 AM
Pray with the Rector and other parishioners in our beautiful sanctuary on weekday mornings. We are now offering Morning Prayer from 9:00-9:30 Monday through Friday. Coming together in this simple way can deepen our sense of companionship with God and each other, and also reorient us to God's sense of peace and purpose for our lives as the day begins.
Additionally, the church will be open beforehand on weekdays starting at 8:30 for those who desire a space for silent prayer (even if you want to step in for 5 minutes on your way to work) or for those who have scheduling conflicts at the 9 o'clock hour. If you would like to join us and are in need of off-street parking, please feel free to park in the circle drive.
For more information on either of these opportunities, please contact Lynn Hoke (Adult Formation Coordinator) or Guynn Prince (Morning Prayer). We are excited to see what God makes possible through these new gatherings this fall.

Take a tour with the Green Team on Nov. 7
Join the Green Team on Friday, November 7 at the Walnut Creek Wetland Educational Center and Nature Park.
Often environmental stories are sad and depressing, but we have a good news story that is the result of Episcopalians partnering with grassroots organizations to restore wetlands, resulting in the beautiful Walnut Creek Wetland Educational Center and Nature Park.

Gifts of Time and Talent
How you would like to share your gifts to further God’s work at the Church of the Good Shepherd?
Our church family is a source of deep blessing—offering community, stability, hope, and a place to call home. In turn, each of us has much to give through our unique passions, gifts, and abilities. As we enter this season of stewardship, we are invited to discern how God is calling us to share our time and talents for the good of our parish and the flourishing of our wider community.
Everyone in our parish family is encouraged to complete this Time and Talent survey. Please let us know your interest in serving in any of the following by areas by checking the appropriate boxes. Your responses will help us discover how best we can serve God’s work together at the Church of the Good Shepherd, support our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan and guide opportunities for ministry and volunteer service.
By offering your gifts and passions through this online form, you help shape the future of our parish while uplifting and supporting both our church family and the wider community. After you submit the form, a fellow parishioner will reach out to connect you with opportunities where your gifts can bless others. And for those who prefer a paper copy, they are available in the main lobby of the Parish Life Center and in the church office.
Please take a few minutes to complete the Time and Talent Survey:

Safe Church Training, Sunday November 9th
The Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina requires many ministry positions and volunteers to complete Safe Church Training every three years. The training is designed to ensure that each church is providing a safe place for children and young people as well as adults who are vulnerable. Those required to attend are clergy, church staff, vestry members, anyone who works with children or youth, anyone who makes at-home visits or other visits on behalf of the church.
The Diocese of North Carolina is providing 3 training sessions in November. One of those is November 9 at 1 PM, and a group of us from Good Shepherd will experience this session together. Would you like to join us? Please do. A light lunch of sandwich and chips will be served. Please call the Parish Office (919.831.2000) to reserve your spot. Contact: Susan Lewellen
