September 3, 2021

Carroll Community,

After a few quiet months, the building and campus at 211 Matsonford Road is once again bustling with activity! Faculty returning to prepare for the year, practices, games, activity meetings, and most of our Class of 2025 and transfer students moved throughout our halls this week. We are getting closer to our full community being together again in 12 short days!

Next week, we will begin our first four days of school, with each grade coming in for a full day, starting with our Seniors on Wednesday, September 8th. The day before each grade is set to arrive, students and parents will get an email with details on the day and some general reminders. The Freshman email will come out on Friday, September 10th for their first day on Monday the 13th.

Please review the rest of our weekly update and then take some time to relax and enjoy the last long weekend before we begin the 2021-2022 school year next week.
Vaccine Verification Information - Second Request

As we communicated last week, Archdiocesan High Schools will not be requiring the COVID-19 vaccine. However, all schools will be asking parents to provide information regarding whether or not a student is vaccinated. This course of action is consistent with existing policy regarding student vaccination in general and will allow for effective school health and safety planning. The information will be entered into student health records, which have appropriate privacy safeguards in place. School administrators will use this information in conjunction with the school nurse and state health officials if COVID cases become present in our school.

The form to submit information can be found HERE. Unvaccinated students who become exposed to someone who has tested positive for the virus may be required to quarantine for a certain period of time. Such quarantines would require temporary exclusion from extra-curricular school sponsored activities. If families do not supply information regarding the vaccination status of their child(ren), the school will need to assume that the child(ren) is not vaccinated.

If you have already completed this form, thank you! Please do not complete the form again.
COVID 19 FAQ -

We have updated our COVID-19 FAQs and they can be found HERE. We will continue to update this document as the year progresses.
Flynn & O’Hara Uniform Delays

Those who have attempted to order parts of their child’s uniform in the last two weeks may have noticed that Flynn & O’Hara is currently experiencing some significant shipping delays on most items. Therefore, we have made the following temporary adjustments to the uniform for the first four days of school:

If a student does not have all of the pieces of their uniform, their parent/guardian must contact Mrs. Kaitlin Buchanan, Assistant Principal for Student Life - [email protected].

All students must wear one of the required school shirts (red or white polo with the school logo, or a blue or white oxford button-down shirt). Seniors will be taking their class photo on their first day, and the other grades will be taking their yearbook photos.
If any student has yet to receive any other part of their uniform, the student should still dress appropriately in what we would refer to as “business casual”. For boys, this would mean khaki pants of any color and dress shoes, and for the ladies, and for the ladies, either an appropriate length skirt or dress pants are acceptable for this adjustment period. Please keep in mind that as part of students' first days of school, they will be outside.

If students do not have any one of the required school shirts, they are welcome to potentially borrow/use one from the Office for Student Life. The office will be open for students to come get a shirt if they need one from 9AM - 12PM, Tuesday-Friday.

As we follow along with Flynn & O’Hara’s shipping updates, we will communicate any other uniform alterations by Monday, June 13th, if necessary. At this point, all students should have ordered all necessary parts of the school uniform. Please contact Mrs. Buchanan.
Septa Pass Reminder

For Philadelphia residents ONLY - A communication on how SEPTA passes will be distributed was sent out this past Monday. The communication can be found HERE. Questions on transportation should be directed to the Office for Student Life.
