Pius XI Family Newsletter | May 15, 2024

Dear Lord, help us to embrace each moment with a spirit of perseverance, knowing that through these experiences, we are being refined and strengthened in our faith. Teach us to wait on Your timing, not rushing ahead or growing weary when progress seems slow. Colossians 1:11 “Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.” Remind us of the value of patience as a fruit of the Spirit, which develops depth and maturity in our walk with You. Amen.

Letter from the Principal

Parents and Guardians,

We are in the home stretch of the school year!  AP exams are in their final days. We had a very successful prom this past weekend! The countdown to summer has begun and while there is palpable excitement, I also want to make sure nothing is missed. Please review carefully for important dates\events. Next week is the last week of classes for our seniors (and many junior final exams).

We will not have early release on Wednesday, May 22nd, but will have an early release on Friday, May 24th. May 24th will also be the day for our senior TAC parties, as well as Senior Awards\Baccalaureate Mass. The last day for seniors is Friday, May 24th. We will have graduation practice, right after senior awards.

May 28-30 is our regular exam week. Please note the special schedule below. Also, a reminder that students who do not have exams, do not need to be on campus. However, students will be able to follow their normal schedule and attend any and all resources and classes, if they are on campus. Our goal is to create a focused and respectful environment in the school for exams. Students should not come to school on these days just to hang out. The building will be quiet (other than the Union), and students are expected to study or be in exams.

Padres y Guardianes,

Community Updates

Updates from the PPO

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the parents that contributed towards Teacher Appreciation Week at Pius XI last week.

The teachers were treated to a fun week of food and gifts.

Monday started off with a healthy salad bar lunch and fridge stocked with drinks courtesy of the PPO. Tuesday the teachers and staff started the day off right with Bagels and Coffee donated by Starbucks. Wednesday entailed a scrumptious BBQ lunch donated by O’Sullivans. Thursday the teachers were surprised with a froyo bar donated by YoMama. The week ended on Friday with every staff member receiving a $10 gift card donated by Saz’s and an additional $20 gift card donated by parents and the PPO.

We wanted to thank you for helping the PPO treat the teachers and staff at Pius, they truly make a difference in our student’s lives.

Job Opportunity in Institutional Advancement

The Institutional Advancement Department is looking to add a part-time, contracted Event Coordinator to the team. The Event Coordinator will help plan and orchestrate logistics for two signature events—Popesfest in fall and the Spring Auction Celebration.

Please see the job description for the scope of work and full list of responsibilities. This is a contracted position and the hours are varied/flexible. Some of the work can be done off site with the number of hours needed each week varying by proximity to the event. Interested individuals should forward a cover letter and resume to Vice President of Advancement Michelle Pape at mpape@piusxi.org.
