2027 Annual Pledge Campaign

WEEM Team at the

Miracle Mile Breast Cancer Walk

in memoriam

Mary Lynn Ford

From the Senior Warden

At this month’s Vestry meeting, Martin Schwerzler presented a “deep dive” on Pastoral Care and described the many and varied ways that the Pastoral Care committee works to serve the needs of the congregation. Whether it is taking communion to those unable to attend church, seeing to it that those who are ill or shut-in receive cards or flowers, praying for those with special needs, visiting those in the hospital, or providing group support to those who are grieving, the Pastoral Care ministry works to assist those in need with care and empathy. If you are interested in volunteering your time in this meaningful ministry, please contact Martin or any member of the Pastoral Care committee.

We are midway through October and midway through our Stewardship campaign. There is one remaining stewardship gathering scheduled - this one at my home, 700 Camellia Road in Augusta, at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27th. Fr. Eric will give a brief presentation outlining our stewardship goals for 2027 and lead a discussion as regards our views on goals and priorities and how we can best use our resources to benefit our church family and the community we serve. If you have not yet had the opportunity to attend one of these gatherings, please consider joining us on the 27th to learn about stewardship, get to know your fellow church members better, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks and fellowship.

There are several other upcoming events to be aware of, including Snack Pack outreach on Saturday, October 31st at 9:00 a.m. in Tyler Hall where we will pack bags of snack food for those in need. If you’d like to help we’d love to have you join us- and it’s a great opportunity for youth as well. We also have an ongoing drive for our partner neighborhood school, Hornsby Elementary, to collect personal hygiene items for the children there. Items suggested include socks, underwear, deodorant, feminine hygiene items, and laundry detergent. There are drop baskets available in both the Narthex and Tyler Hall through the end of the month. As you can see, we are each an important part of a vibrant church community that seeks to provide ministry and service both to our fellow congregants and to the downtown community of which we are a part. Thank-you for your generosity of time, talent and financial resources as we all continue to grow in Christ.

See you at church!

Linda Hardy

Senior Warden
