Children's Worship!

We are officially back and will resume regular School Year Children's Worship, with a kiddo leading The Lord's Prayer on Non Communion Sundays and a Weekly Children's Message, and then about 40 minutes of Children's Worship downstairs in Fellowship Hall!

We also will have regular Nursery Care each week with our amazing Camille Cobaugh serving as our Nursery Care Coordinator!

For this Sunday, we are having a bit of a Celebration Sunday, and the Lesson time will be focused on hearing highlights from everyone's summer, plus some crafting, games, and a Snack with a Blessing.

For this Sunday, a Key Bible Verse to tie into the Lesson is: 

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs."

                               (Psalm 100: 1-2) 

Rev. Laura Cadmus

Rev. Laura Cadmus is a native Vermonter who grew up in Williston, Vermont and was raised in faith at Williston Federated Church. She grew up climbing trees and catching frogs and still feels most at peace in the natural world. After a B.S. in Geology and career in GIS (digital mapping & spatial analysis) she answered a call to ministry and pursued her MDiv at Andover Newton Theological School. She's served churches throughout Vermont as a settled pastor, interim and supply minister but her primary ministry has been as a healthcare chaplain since 2018. Currently she works per diem at UVMMC and DHMC and full-time in her other vocation as an independent electrician. She balances work with family, friends and interests including cooking/baking, hiking, and canoeing/kayaking.

Bible Camp 2026 Youth Edition!

Bible Camp 2026 Youth Edition was a wonderful success! We spent the week connecting, laughing, learning, and giving back to our community in big and small ways.

The Missions Committee planned five days of service projects, partnering with Meals on Wheels, Stowe Land Trust, Lamoille Community House, Copley Manor, and the Waterbury Food Shelf. Together, we prepared meals, worked on local trails, played games, and stocked shelves. We are so grateful to the Missions Committee for creating such a meaningful week and giving our youth the opportunity to work alongside organizations that are making our communities stronger.

Each morning, we also explored a different theme during our connection time: Playfulness, Friendship, Awe and Wonder, Forgiveness, and Imagination. Throughout the week, we learned a lot about what it means to serve others—some lessons we can put into words and others that we will continue to think about in the weeks ahead.

With permission from our youth, here are a few of their reflections:

• Hadley said her favorite activity was making a meal for friends at Lamoille Community House because it “feels really good to know you helped.”
• Ella enjoyed “all of it,” especially playing with the residents at Copley Manor. She said, “Small acts make a big difference.”
• Brooks shared that playing games with the residents at Copley Manor was fun because “it brought them a lot of joy.”

I (Molly) was lucky enough to witness a week filled with compassion, kindness, and hard work. If what I saw this week is any indication of this generation, the future is bright!

A huge thank-you to Chris DeRienzo, Denise Wentz, Oliver Giuliani, Madison Shaw, Doris, Suzie, Brenda, and Wendy for giving their time and energy to help make the week possible. They made treats, helped with check-in, prepared meals with the youth, washed dishes, and did so much more.

We also send our deepest appreciation to Taryn Noelle, who poured her heart and soul into the Children’s Bible Camp.

P.S. from the Mission's Committee: We would also like to give a very special thank-you to Molly Mitchell for her incredible leadership, hard work, and dedication to our youth. This was the first year we had a dedicated youth leader for Bible Camp, and Molly’s presence made such a difference. Her energy, care, and ability to connect with our young people helped make this camp a truly special experience. We are so grateful for the time and heart she puts into reaching and working with the youth of our church. Thank you, Molly, for helping make Bible Camp 2026 such a wonderful week!

Church Fall Open House, Sign Up to Help!

Can you help us welcome the many visitors to the village during the autumn weekends? 

We would like to have the church open for people to pray, take photos, learn about our historic church, and support our mission. This will start September 5 through October 11.

Please sign up in the Narthex or email the church to volunteer for a 2 or 1 hour time slot this fall. Be sure to look at the dates and times on the sign up sheet.

Choir Resumes!

Choir rehearsals will resume on Wednesday September 9th at 5:30pm! Our first Sunday singing will be on September 13th as we welcome Pastor Dan back from his sabbatical!

If you're interested in singing in the Choir, please join us on September 9th as we kick off another Choir season. This is a wonderful time since we'll be starting on some new pieces together!

SCC Technology Night Fundraiser!!

Join us for SCC Technology Night, September 11th 6-8 pm where the youth will be providing one-on-one technical support to help troubleshoot common device issues, answer technology questions, and offer guidance.

We will provide a pasta dinner for the youth and the folks who join us in need of technical assistance. 

This special evening is a fundraiser to support the renovation of our youth room. We will invite the community to attend and make a suggested donation of $25–$50 in appreciation of the assistance received. All funds raised will go to support the renovation of our youth room.

United Way Firewood Project Sept. 12th!

The United Way of Lamoille County 2026 Firewood Project is happening on Saturday, September 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at our Wood Lot — 595 Bridge Street, Morrisville, VT 05661 — and we're hoping you'll join us.

Every year this project puts split, seasoned firewood in the hands of neighbors who rely on it to heat their homes through the winter. It takes a lot of hands to make it happen, and there's a job for every comfort level:

- Sawing — bucking logs to length

- Splitting — running the splitters

- Stacking — loading and organizing the finished wood

- Delivering — hauling wood out to households

If you have equipment, that's a huge help. We're specifically looking for wood splitters, dump trucks, trailers, and chainsaws.
