Rev. Laura Cadmus is a native Vermonter who grew up in Williston, Vermont and was raised in faith at Williston Federated Church. She grew up climbing trees and catching frogs and still feels most at peace in the natural world. After a B.S. in Geology and career in GIS (digital mapping & spatial analysis) she answered a call to ministry and pursued her MDiv at Andover Newton Theological School. She's served churches throughout Vermont as a settled pastor, interim and supply minister but her primary ministry has been as a healthcare chaplain since 2018. Currently she works per diem at UVMMC and DHMC and full-time in her other vocation as an independent electrician. She balances work with family, friends and interests including cooking/baking, hiking, and canoeing/kayaking.

Greater Stowe Interfaith

Finding Inner Peace in Times of Chaos: An Interfaith Panel Discussion August 23rd!

When: Sunday, August 23rd

Where: St. John's in the Mountains Episcopal Church, 1994 Mountain Road, Stowe

Time: 2–3:00 p.m., with light refreshments afterwards

Participants: Rabbi David Fainsilber, Fr. Bob Leopold, and Monk San

The world can feel unpredictable and overwhelming. How do different faith traditions help us find peace — both within ourselves and in community with others? Join Rabbi David Fainsilber (Jewish Community of Greater Stowe), Fr. Bob Leopold (priest, St. John's in the Mountains Episcopal Church), and Monk San (resident monk, Blue Lotus Meditation Center, Venice, FL) for a conversation exploring how Jewish, Christian, and Buddhist teachings speak to fear, uncertainty, and the search for calm amid chaos.

The panel will draw on scripture, tradition, and personal practice to explore how each faith community supports its members through hard times, what history teaches us about resilience, and simple daily practices anyone can easily learn. Whether you're firmly rooted in a tradition, spiritually searching, or simply curious, this conversation is for you. All are welcome!

Musical Selections

Ola Gjeilo | LUX BEATA TRINITAS ft. ACJC Alumni Choir

I continue to be impressed by Ola Gjeilo's work! Here is a piece commissioned by the ACJC Alumni Choir. ACJC is the Anglo-Chinese Junior College in Singapore.

Here I Am, Lord arranged by Ovid Young, Luther College Cathedral Choir

We sing the chorus of this hymn as our Benediction response. This is the best arrangement I've come across. I like that the first "Here I Am Lord" is quiet and tentative and the subsequent ones get stronger and more confident. Personally, I think they could be even stronger because this is the ultimate statement of faith: "Here I Am Lord, Use Me!"
