Children's Worship!
For this Sunday, the next Holy Moly Lesson in the lineup is titled: Breakfast With Jesus, and the Key Phrase associated with the Lesson is:
Stop, look, and listen! God shows up in everyday places.
And the Key Bible Verse that is associated with the Lesson is:
Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord.
(John 21-12)
In addition to that, we will also be having an extra sweet Mother's Day portion of our Lesson, with crafts, a video and talking prompts all focused on Mother's Day!
The CE Committee is also very honored to be in charge of the Mother's Day Coffee Hour this Sunday. We hope that you can come join us for some food, coffee, treats, fellowship and to help celebrate all of the amazing ladies in our lives!

Be an Usher!
We would love to see your smiling face at the front door when we come in to the church on Sundays!! This is an excellent opportunity for you to greet the congregation as they come in.
If you’re new to the church, it’s a great way to put names with faces, as well as a way for other to get to know you! If you’re a long time member of the church, this would be the time for you to get to know new members and greet face to face with dear friends.
It’s not a difficult job, but an important one. This is our first opportunity to greet folks and make them feel welcome….because they are.
There is always a sign-up sheet in the narthex, and also in the weekly Quest. Please lend a hand and be a welcoming presence for our beautiful church.
Please contact Nan Myers @ 802-244-1471 with any questions and for details on what the “Job” entails. I’m happy to assist!

SCC Women's Outdoor Adventure Group Thursday!
The SCC Women’s Outdoor Adventure Group is a new group designed for women who love a good outdoor challenge and a good beer (or drink of your choice). Once a month, we’ll head into the great outdoors, exhaust ourselves, and then grab a drink.
Our first outing is a hike up the Pinnacle Meadows Trail on Thursday, May 15, 5-7:30p, followed by a drink at Lower Bar, 8p. Can’t make the hike? Join us for a drink and we promise only to look down on you a little. I kid! Come for both or come for one; no matter what, we’ll have fun!
If interested or have questions, email Ashley Finlen Copeland at afinlencopeland@gmail.com.

Book Study Continues Thursday!
Join us for a 6-week Book Study as we read The Serviceberry, May 8 through June 12.
We’ll gather weekly on Thursdays in the Fellowship Hall and online from 7-8pm. The study will be cofacilitated by Eugene Bernat and Ashley Finlen Copeland.
The Serviceberry, written by Robin Wall Kimmerer, an Indigenous woman and scientist, offers a bold and inspiring vision for how to orient our lives around gratitude, reciprocity, and community, based on the lessons of the natural world (New York Time book review).
During the study, we’ll explore themes of reciprocity and abundance in the natural world as inspiration for understanding our relationship with the environment in both a spiritual and practical sense. The book’s message will resonate with those that find solace and comfort in the beauty of creation.
Interested or have questions, please email Ashley Finlen Copeland at afinlencopeland@gmail.com.

Steeple Raising Friday May 16th!
The Stowe Community Church invites the community to gather on Friday,May 16, 2025, at 11:30am on Main Street, for a truly monumental moment: the installation of the church's newly rebuilt spire, returning it to its rightful place atop the historic steeple.
The community is invited to witness the hoisting of the spire, a moment both symbolic and spectacular. It’s a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, faith, and the unwavering support of a community that treasures its history while looking toward the future.
We look forward to welcoming our Lieutenant Governor, John Rogers, and representative Jed
Lipsky, along with major donors Chuck & Jann Perkins, and church & community representatives to share words of thanks and reflection..

Green Tip for May with Corrected Link!
Last month I discussed farming practices and encouraged you to consider buying food from regenerative farms which use compost in place of synthetic fertilizers. So let’s talk compost: what is it, why use it, and how to create it. Compost is the product of leaves, grass clippings, food scraps, and other organic discards that have decomposed with the help of air, worms, bacteria, fungi, and warm temperatures. What once was a slimy banana peel becomes fertile soil, coined ‘black gold’ by farmers, and used as a natural fertilizer, providing nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Composting eliminates food scraps from landfills which importantly reduces methane gas created by anaerobic (oxygen-deprived) decomposition of organics. In addition to fertilizing the soil, compost reduces soil erosion and increases soil water retention. I’m struck once again by the symbiotic and regenerative traits of nature. Truly amazing!
Ready to start home composting? I highly recommend the National Resources Defense Council’s website: https://www.nrdc.org/stories/composting-101#howto. The site walks you through the steps of getting starting and ensuring your organic discards have the right balance of inputs to rapidly decompose.

Seeking photos of SCC
We're always looking for photos to include in the Quest! If you take some SCC-related photos, please send them to either Marylou (info@stowechurch.org) or Greg Morrill (Gmorrill@pshift.com)

| | | You can find past sermons on the Stowe Community Church YouTube channel. Go to YouTube and search on Stowe Community Church. | | | I am still in awe of the youth choirs that performed at the ACDA convention! This one seems appropriate for Mothers Day."When I Am Woman" performed by the McCullough JH Chamber Choir. That's a middle school in Conroe, Texas! Composed by Andrea Clearfield, each singer whispers her hopes for the future as the ending for the piece. | | | The latest from VOCES8 and as always the quality of their voices and the recording is incomparable. They are able to cast a spell over the listener. Enjoy "A Day May Come!" | | | | | |
