Mission Spotlight for September
The Mission and Service Committee is pleased to highlight the North Country Animal League (NCAL) as our September Mission of the Month. NCAL’s mission is to promote compassionate and responsible relationships between people and animals. For more than 30 years, NCAL has cared for vulnerable animals, helped them find loving homes, and provided education and community programs that support animal welfare.
Jacques Du Preez, NCAL’s Executive Director, will speak to our congregation on September 27th during worship. He will share more about NCAL’s work in our community and the many ways we can support their mission.
We are also grateful to NCAL for sponsoring our Blessing of the Animals on September 20th at the Von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort. We hope you and your four-legged friends will join us for this special celebration!
Finally, we invite our congregation to participate in NCAL’s Walk for Animals on Saturday, September 12th. It’s a wonderful way to support NCAL while enjoying a walk with friends, family, and perhaps your favorite canine companion. To register, visit: NCAL Walk for Animals registration
| | | | September 20. 2026 at 4:00 pm service for Blessing of the Animals led by Pastor Dan and Rev. Barbara Purinton at Trapp Family Concert Meadow, rain site Trapp Family Wedding Tent. All well-mannered pets, live and stuffed are welcome! Dogs should be on leashes 6’ or shorter, no flexi leashes, please. Cats and other small animals should be crated. Be sure to bring your own chair or blanket to enjoy the outdoor service. | | | |
Church Fall Open House, Sign Up to Help!
Can you help us welcome the many visitors to the village during the autumn weekends?
We would like to have the church open for people to pray, take photos, learn about our historic church, and support our mission. This will run September 5 through October 11.
Please sign up in the Narthex or email the church to volunteer for a 1 or 2 hour time slot this fall. Be sure to look at the dates and times on the sign up sheet.
Thank you for helping us open wide our doors of hospitality!

Choir Resumes!
Our first Sunday singing will be on September 13th as we welcome Pastor Dan back from his sabbatical! If you're interested in singing in the Choir, we'd love to have you join us. Come up to the choir loft after Sunday service and talk to Karen Miller, our organist and choir director.

GET TO KNOW OUR NEW MEMBERS!
We are the Macalaster Family: Emily, Andy, Brooks (3), and Charlotte (1). We are thrilled to join the church as members officially and look forward to building lasting bonds and community within the greater congregation. We are based in Boston and spend many of our weekends in Stowe, Vermont. Our extended family are also active members of the church: Lisa and Spencer Macalaster also part time Vermont-residents, who now spend their winters in Florida, and Julia Macalaster and Andrew Leisman and their two children (Winship and Luke) who live also in Stowe, Vermont. We are grateful that our extended family has been the catalyst to become more involved in the church and community in Stowe.
We both grew up attending church regularly as children and have enjoyed introducing our children to a life of faith and community through SCC. Charlotte and Brooks were both baptized at the Stowe Community Church with Pastor Dan. Our son Brooks is a first-year student at the Park Street School, a faith-based school in Boston. Brooks now loves to lead us in family prayer at meal times, and Charlotte in her little toddler voice reaches out her tiny hand every night before bed saying "prayer!"
Emily works for CAC Group, an insurance brokerage with a focus on private equity, and Andy works for the RMR Group, a REIT manager. Outside of our professional lives, we love to ski, spend time outdoors, and travel. We are proud to be members of SCC and look forward to connecting with other members.
Best,
Emily & Andy

Our Missions Team shares this letter from a long-time partner organizaion, CVRAN
Please contact Maddie Tagatac if you can hekp at maddie.tagatac@cvran.org
Greetings Stowe Community Church neighbors,
I hope this email finds you well! My name is Maddie Tagatac and I am a Stowe resident and new intern working with Central Vermont Refugee Action Network (CVRAN), which I saw you have worked with in the past -- thank you so much for your generous support! It's great to see Stowe organizations and communities supporting such a worthy cause.
I am writing to inquire if you may have any leads within your church community -- or suggestions of where to inquire -- to assist in the housing search for a 2-person, single income New Vermonter family we work with who currently live and work in Stowe. Their current housing arrangement is coming to an end in early October, so ideally we would help them secure a 1-2BR apartment or ADU ready to move into in September or October 1. Do you happen to know anyone within your network who may have such a unit available?
Thank you again for your continued support to CVRAN! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
All the best,
Maddie

United Way Firewood Project Sept. 12th!
The United Way of Lamoille County 2026 Firewood Project is happening on Saturday, September 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at our Wood Lot — 595 Bridge Street, Morrisville, VT 05661 — and we're hoping you'll join us.
Every year this project puts split, seasoned firewood in the hands of neighbors who rely on it to heat their homes through the winter. It takes a lot of hands to make it happen, and there's a job for every comfort level:
- Sawing — bucking logs to length
- Splitting — running the splitters
- Stacking — loading and organizing the finished wood
- Delivering — hauling wood out to households
If you have equipment, that's a huge help. We're specifically looking for wood splitters, dump trucks, trailers, and chainsaws.
Full details are coming in a few weeks, but if you already know you're in, you can sign up any time:
