“Every time I feel the spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.”

This Lent we at St. Alban’s will open ourselves to the Holy Spirit moving us towards God’s vision of a Beloved Community.

For our annual Lenten series, we will be using A Lenten Bible Study based on six African American Spirituals, Plenty Good Room by Marilyn E. Thorton.
First Meeting:
Wednesday, February 24th
7:00 p.m.
See above for the Zoom link

“This unique short-term Bible study combines an in-depth look at Scripture, American history, and the music and lyrics of six African American spirituals. The six-session study provides biblical, social, and historical analyses of the spirituals: 'Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit," "This Lonesome Valley," "Bow Down on Your Knees," "Plenty Good Room," “Ain't Dat Good News," and "Were You There?"

We have been invited to share a session or two with our friends at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Dublin who are using the same Bible study.

Here is how you can get involved!

  • Mark your calendars. All are welcome. Do not worry if you cannot make all the sessions.

  • Purchase Plenty Good Room by Marilyn E. Thorton. There are copies available in the St. Alban's office for $7.50. If you would like to purchase one, simply come to the church during normal office hours and request a copy. We have limited copies available so please call ahead. The book is also available on Amazon.

We hope you will join us!

CARING AND SHARING
Each month we highlight a specific organization. We do so to allow members of the parish to offer financial support directly to organizations that "speak" especially strongly to them. This week we feature some information about our February organization:
Procter Scholarship Fund
From Amy Boyd, Procter Center, Executive Director
Dear Friends:
Procter is gearing up to welcome folks back to Procter this summer. We don’t know exactly what that is going to look like yet, except to say that we will follow all CDC, State and American Camp Association ( ACA) guidelines.

Family Camp will be the primary program with an emphasis on the farm. Families will be able to go up to the farm and get their “hands dirty” as they help plant, weed and harvest from the bountiful vegetable garden. There will also be chores to do with the pigs and chickens. All the usual camp activities such as pool and lake swim, canoeing, games, crafts, campfire and more will be in full gear. Come and enjoy the fresh air, wide open space and fellowship at Procter.

As we welcome families back to Procter we know there will be financial need now, more than ever. Your contributions will help families come and enjoy a peaceful, spiritual and fun-filled weekend at Procter Summer Camp.

Also this summer, your church family can come and enjoy a day on the farm and lunch at Procter. The plan is to offer this on Saturday mornings. Stay tuned for more details.

Thank you for your continued support of Procter and people that we serve.

Blessings and Peace,
Amy R. Boyd
Executive Director

Our Prayer List

Christians are encouraged to engage regularly in prayer. Examples include prayers of petition for healing, for well-being or for peace in our communities and the world. We should also offer prayers of gratitude and celebration for our many blessings. Each week we offer a Prayer List which includes prayers of petition & prayers of gratitude, celebration and thanksgiving. We specifically invite all to offer these prayers of gratitude too. They may be prayers for weddings, anniversaries, the birth of children or any of our many blessings. If you want a person or an event included in our prayer list please email Ernestine Ujah. Click on her name to send an email.
