For our annual Lenten series, we are using a Bible study based on six African American Spirituals, Plenty Good Room by Marilyn E. Thornton.
Come to this session. You are welcome and can be fed spiritually even if you did not attend the 1st gathering.

We have several copies of Plenty Good Room in the church office. These are $7.50. If you would like to purchase one, simply come to the church during normal office hours and request a copy.

Easter Flowers
We have a tradition of placing a glorious display of flowers in the church for Easter services. The flowers are given to honor someone's memory or to give thanks for someone.

Following the services on Easter Day, flowers are taken to members unable to worship with us in person.
We invite you to participate with a contribution of any amount to offset the cost of the flowers.

CARING AND SHARING
Each month we highlight a specific organization. We do so to allow members of the parish to offer financial support directly to organizations that "speak" especially strongly to them.

CARING AND SHARING for March:
PARTNERS-IN-MINISTRY-IN-LIBERIA (PIMIL)

A little bit about Liberia:
Liberia, on the west coast of Africa, has had ties with our country since 1822 when freed slaves from the United States were repatriated there in the belief that ex-slaves would have greater freedom and equality in Africa. Slaves freed from slave ships were also sent there instead of being returned to their countries of origin. In 1847, the Republic of Liberia was founded and a government modeled on that of the United States was established. The capital city, Monrovia, was named after James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States and a supporter of the colonization of Liberia.

Modernization followed investment by the United States during World War II. Liberia was a founding member of the United Nations. The 1980s brought a period of political and economic instability followed by two successive civil wars (1989 – 2003) leaving approximately 250,000 people dead and destroying the country’s infrastructure and economy. Since a peace agreement in 2003 and democratic elections in 2005, Liberia is recovering from the lingering effects of the civil war and related health, education and economic problems.

A little bit about P.I.M.I.L.
Partners-in-Ministry-in Liberia (PIMIL) was established in 2005 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Westerville by The Rev. Abeoseh Flemister to focus on the education and health needs of the people in Liberia.  St. Albans, has been a partner in this ministry since its inception. We were the primary sponsor of two nursing students, who have graduated from Cuttington University in Liberia and are now helping others with their health needs. More recently, funding has been directed toward primary education of children.

The Mission of PIMIL through education:
         -Demonstrating God’s Love through Jesus.
         - Restoring Hope.
         - Transforming Lives.
         - Enabling Dreams.
         - Helping to rebuild Liberia

PIMIL’s goal was to  sponsor 200 students for the 2020-2021 school year. PIMIL is sponsoring 216 students who are now back in school..  The Ebola outbreak in 2014–2015 left many orphans. Many students sponsored by PIMIL for this academic year are those orphaned or otherwise affected by the Ebola virus. In addition, PIMIL sent rice to help those who were hungry during the pandemic and provided for a Christmas celebration for the children.

Caring and Sharing Sunday is March 14 when Mother Abeoseh (Abby) Flemister will share information About PIMIL with us. Contributions to Partners-in-Ministry-in-Liberia (PIMIL) the Caring and Sharing partner for March may be made any time during the month of March.  A check can be sent to the church payable to St. Alban’s with Caring and Sharing, PIMIL in the memo line or you may use the on-line donation link above.
Our Prayer List
Christians are encouraged to engage regularly in prayer. Examples include prayers of petition for healing, for well-being or for peace in our communities and the world. We should also offer prayers of gratitude and celebration for our many blessings. Each week we offer a Prayer List which includes prayers of petition & prayers of gratitude, celebration and thanksgiving. We specifically invite all to offer these prayers of gratitude too. They may be prayers for weddings, anniversaries, the birth of children or any of our many blessings. If you want a person or an event included in our prayer list please email Ernestine Ujah.
