Dear GLOBE Community,  Next month, The GLOBE Academy will bid farewell to its second class of graduating 8th grade students — sending them off to the next chapter of their educational journey. With so much happening in the world around us, this is a particularly bittersweet moment for GLOBE's teachers and staff. But, it is also one so special that we would not dare let it pass without every bit of fanfare we can offer despite the distance between us. It's a celebration! And with that in mind, GLOBE will feature our dynamic class of 2020 graduates in a fun series of profiles each day through graduation.  Read our 8th Graders profiles.

End of Year Guide for GLOBE Students and Families for 2019-2020

Use the @theglobeacademy.net email account to log in to the Chromebook from home. Student devices remain under school filtering policies even off-site.  If you are unable to access a website or link, or there is any issue with Chromebook functionality during the school closure, please send an email to [email protected] that fully describes the problem (in detail). Include contact information for prompt response. Let teacher(s) know if this problem will prohibit turning in work on time. GLOBE Host Families Wanted French Teaching Intern Host Families are needed for 2020-2021. Please contact Robyn Brandman, Host Family liaison for details, [email protected] . 8th GRADE UPDATES 8th Grade Graduation - Come and Celebrate with Us! 8th Grade Graduation will be held on Monday, May 18 in the parking lot of Upper Campus. We will begin parking cars at 3:30 p.m. and the graduation ceremony will begin at 4 p.m . All students and families will be asked to remain in their cars for the entirety of the celebration. We will be limiting attendance to one car per graduate household, but will also stream live on Facebook so that the GLOBE community can participate. More information to follow! 8th Grade Minnesota Trip Refunds The 8th grade trip has been cancelled. We expect to be able to offer refunds for all payments made minus a $30 per person processing fee to the travel agency. Refunds will be issued via PayPal and check (dependent on method of original payment) by the first week in May . All questions regarding payments and refunds should be directed to Mrs. Limor ( [email protected] ). CONNECTIONS General Music  4th & 5th Grade Students will be using Quaver Music. The students already have a log in. The students will access detailed instructions for their Quaver Music assignment in their music google classroom. GLOBE would like to account for our enrollment numbers for next year. Due to DeKalb's budget cuts, it is more important than ever that we have an accurate student count. Complete the google form below if your child will not return for the 2020-21 school year. *Note, this does not apply to graduating 8th graders. Survey: Student Un-enrollment 2020-21 Please know, it is OKAY if your family's plans have changed! Your family needs to do what is best for your student. We ask that you let us know by May 1, 2020 if your child will not return. If at any time in the coming weeks and months you learn you will not return to GLOBE for the 2020-21 school year, contact [email protected] Ambassadors We are still looking for current GLOBE families with rising Kindergartners and 6th graders to serve as ambassadors for our new community members. In the coming weeks we will create digital platforms to welcome our new students this spring. GLOBE’s goal is to continue the tradition of summer playdates if possible. Giving Tuesday Now This year GLOBE is participating in  #GivingTuesdayNow , a global day of giving that will take place this  Tuesday, May 5, 2020 , as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. The GLOBE community has raised $234,800, which is 94% of our fundraising goal to raise $250,000 this school year. Help us close the funding gap before the school year ends by making a gift that is meaningful to you. Thank you for your support of GLOBE during these uncertain times! PTCC EVENTS & PROJECT LEADERSHIP OPPS PTCC Elections It's time to vote for the next Parent Teacher Community Council (PTCC) Officers. Let's Vote!    Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming ... So let’s show our Teachers and Staff some love!  The GLOBE PTCC is doing our best to continue to bring fun to our families and teachers, so we are planning a VIRTUAL teacher appreciation week May 4-8 . As the first step in the process, we would like to make a video or picture montage to send to our teachers showing our love and support. Please get together with your student(s) and create a 15-second or less video showing your support to the teachers and staff. You can also send a photo as well. Videos will be collected now through Friday , May 1st .  Please email your videos to the PTCC Officers [email protected] by Friday, May 1, 2020, and please include your child’s homeroom teacher and grade in the email. Electronics Recycling The PTCC invites you to our annual electronics recycling drop in celebration of Earth Day 2020! Bins will be located at the lower campus upper parking lot April 22-29 . Let's work together towards a greener planet!

What's on the Menu? Click the links below for locations to pick up lunch for your children Monday, Wednesday and Friday courtesy of DeKalb County School District.

Meal Pickups  DCSD has transition to a meals will be distributed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Meals will no longer be delivered daily. Students will receive a two-day meal package on each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as shown below. The  21 meal distribution sites  will remain operational and the bus meal delivery will continue following the amended plan of meal service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
