Weekly Round-Up: Shining Waters Council
Welcome Back to Scouting Learning Series – Don't Miss Your Chance to Attend One of the Upcoming Webinars!

The "Welcome Back to Scouting" webinars began last week and continue on with more opportunities to attend over this weekend and into next week.

Who are these webinars for?

All Scouters! The information will help you ready for fall programming and includes tons of great information about how to prepare for outdoor programming and carry on safe, great, Scouting adventures while following the Stage 2 Policy and Standard.

Is there additional information available for Group Commissioners?

Yes. In the David Huestis Learning Centre, Group Commissioners will find additional information about preparing your group for the fall session, especially related to safety leadership, risk management and your role as a GC in enabling a quality scouting experience this fall.

Do I have to do any homework?

In a sense. We encourage Scouters to review the course content and videos prior to attending a live webinar so you are able to come prepared to ask questions, and to prepare you with the necessary information and resources you will need to feel confident in providing outdoor programming for our youth.

Can I attend more than one webinar?

Yes, absolutely.

Will there be an opportunity to speak with other Scouters as part of the webinar?

Yes indeed. Each webinar will offer section-specific break-outs, so you'll have the opportunity to discuss the content with scouters who facilitate the same sections that you do.

CRM's Corner: Why it's Important to Engage with Parents Right Now

Click on this video to learn the importance of reaching out to parents about the return to Scouting this fall.

While all parents and Scouters received emails directly from Scouts Canada last week about the return to scouting, it's ideal for us to reach out as section Scouters to parents and caregivers, too.

Don't underestimate how important it is to parents and caregivers to hear from familiar voices about our plans and readiness for the falls. This is an awesome opportunity to answer questions and fill parents and caregivers in on local plans for return to scouting and to let them know that Scouters are preparing for the fall through specialized training in preparation for a safe re-opening of in-person program.

Thanks for everything you do to offer great, safe, Scouting adventures.
