HRSA to Reopen Period 1 Provider Relief Fund Reporting
If you received more than $10,000 in provider relief funds for period 1 and missed the reporting deadline due to extenuating circumstances, you now have between April 1 and April 22 at 8:59 pm PST to submit a late Reporting Period 1 report request. HRSA lists six extenuating circumstances, including failure to click submit and internal miscommunication or error. While you must attest to an extenuating circumstance, no supporting document or proof is required.

Become a Coverage Ambassador, Help Patients Maintain Coverage Once PHE Expires
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is urging physicians, clinics, and community stakeholders to sign up to serve as DHCS Coverage Ambassadors. Coverage Ambassadors will join DHCS’ communication campaign to reach beneficiaries who need their eligibility for coverage redetermined. COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Extended through July
HHS Secretary Becerra renews the declaration of COVID-19 as a Public Health Emergency (PHE), effective for 90 days beginning April 16. Telehealth waivers will remain in effect until then. Additionally, Congress recently extended the telehealth waivers for five months beyond the end of the PHE.

Med Student Scholarship Application Period Now Open
NSMS is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications to give away four $1,000 scholarships to any medical students who have shown interest (i.e. participated in a related activity or project) in improving public health, the practice of medicine and/or the quality of patient care, and who have ties to Solano or Napa counties. Older Adult Medi-Cal Expansion
On May 1, California will expand state-funded full-scope Medi-Cal benefits to individuals who are 50 years of age or older, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Under this coverage expansion, eligible individuals will be able to access the full range of benefits available to Medi-Cal beneficiaries who have full-scope coverage, including no-cost/low-cost quality health, behavioral health, substance use disorder services, and dental services through organized delivery systems under the Medi-Cal program.

ACEs Screenings Report Recently Released
Between January 1, 2020 – when the state began paying for conducting ACE screenings for children and adults up to age 65 –and March 31, 2021, more than 20,600 individuals took the ACEs Aware training, and about 10,900 Medi-Cal providers became ACEs Aware-certified. In that same time period, Medi-Cal providers conducted approximately 640,700 ACE screenings for nearly 520,000 unique Medi-Cal beneficiaries.
