As a Team, We Worked 8,823 Safe Hours Last Week!

Three team members were loading a slider truck with large, galvanized steel beams. While loading, a team member observed that there were smaller pieces of steel channels laying inside the larger beams. The team member recognized the smaller channels had the potential to slide out of the larger beams and fall off the truck. The smaller channels were immediately removed from the load and a visual inspection was done to ensure no other items were unsecured.  

Takeaways: 

• This was a perfect example of Situational Awareness and having a Questioning Attitude. 
• This was a good example of using a STOP/Time-Out to correct a hazardous situation. 
• Always make thorough observations of loads prior to starting the loading process, and then again after everything is tied down to ensure that all items are properly secured for transport.
