Virtual Boo Fest Event
BooFest Festivities and Halloween are nearly upon us! So it is time to dust off your claws and gear up for the Firestone Virtual BooFest. A special website will include haunted house tours, fun games, craft ideas, Whittling Chip, and Cub Scout activities. GLAAC will be holding a Costume Contest on the main GLAACBSA Facebook page. All entered images must be posted by Halloween, and the Post that receives the most likes will be our WINNER. The winning picture will get $100.00 credit for the use of Firestone for that family.

As Scouts of all ages participate in the Fun resources that Firestone Virtual Boo Fest provides: Firestone encourages you also to submit your carved Pumpkin masterpieces! Youth Protection Training
Hello Scouters, as the Fall weather approaches and we start to think about Renewing our registration in Scouting for another year. In order to remain in compliance with our Board’s resolution to keep young people safe, please take a moment to update your annual Youth Protection Training. You can find the latest training by visiting your my.scouting.org account and clicking on the YPT information on the right hand side of the screen. If you have any questions about the BSA’s Youth Protection Policies or training, please contact our Council Commissioner Travis Williams (travisw@usc.edu).
Silver Beaver – Call for Nominations!
The Silver Beaver Award is given by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America upon recommendation of the local council, to persons who have given outstanding service to youth over an extended period of time. The local Council will present a limited number of Silver Beaver Awards each year, according to the number of registered units in the council.

This award is bestowed upon only those persons who have given continued, unselfish, and effective service to the community, usually through the programs of the Boy Scouts of America, but not limited to Scouting. Because individuals may not nominate themselves for this award, only those persons who have been nominated by their Scouting peers are considered. November 1st is the deadline for nomination submissions.
Calling all Scouts of all ages! We need your help! We will be hosting our council, Good Character Gala and we would like to show case our Scouts in our opening ceremony. We would love for you to record you Scout in full uniform (Class A) reciting the pledge of allegiance, Scout Oath and Scout Law. Please film the video on landscape and in good lighting. Make sure it is quiet in the background as well. We will then be taking the videos submitted and creating our opening ceremony. We can't wait to see the videos you create. The deadline for submissions is November 9th at 10pm. Click here to submit your video.
