Services
Candle lighting time for Friday, February 28, is 5:39 PM.

 Unless otherwise noted, Shabbat services are held on Friday evenings at 7:30 PM and on Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM.

The Bar Mitzvah of Noah Clarke will be held on Saturday, February 29, beginning at 9:30 AM. Mazal Tov to Noah and his family!

Our Monday evening service will continue on March 2 beginning at 7 PM.

Please join us for Tot Shabbat on Saturday, March 7. Families with young children are welcome to join us at 10:30 AM for an hour filled with songs, stories, and challah.

Purim : Please join us for a Megillah Reading at Kol Shalom on Monday, March 9, beginning at 6:30 PM. Costumes are encouraged!

Upcoming Guest Speakers
During services on Friday, February 28 , we will be pleased to welcome guest speaker Norman Goda , an American historian who specializes in the history of the Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. Norman will speak about the foundations of Israel as seen through the first US ambassador James McDonald, whose diary and papers he recently edited in the book Envoy to the Promised Land: The Diaries and Papers of James G. McDonald, 1948–1951.


Scholar In Residence: Dr. Natan Sachs
March 13 - March 14, 2020
 
 Dr. Natan Sachs is the Director of the Brookings Institution's Center for Middle East Policy in Washington DC. He publishes widely on Middle East affairs, on Israel's foreign policy, and Israeli domestic politics, and is a frequent media commentator on these issues. Sachs has taught at Georgetown University, was a Hewlett Fellow at Stanford University, a visiting fellow at Tel Aviv University’s Dayan Center, and a Fulbright Fellow in Indonesia. A native of Jerusalem, he holds a B.A from the  Amirim  Honors Program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University. Dr. Sachs will speak about the following:
 
  • Friday, March 13: The Four Tribes of the State of Israel: Secular Jewish, Modern Orthodox, Haredi and Arab Citizens

  • Saturday, March 14: Israeli Elections, Middle East Peace, and Iran

Classes
Siddur class will continue on Tuesday, March 3 , beginning at 10:30 AM . (Please note - Siddur class will NOT be held on Tuesday, March 10.)

Torah and Tabloids will continue on Thursday, March 5, at 9:30 AM.

Talmud Study will continue on Monday, March 9 beginning at 10:30 AM. (Please note - no class on Monday, March 2.)

Tree of Life Preschool
We are now accepting plastic grocery bags… ’tis the season for rainy days and fun outside. Our kiddos are regularly changing clothes and the bags make it easier to send home (and we get to REUSE them). 
 
The Preschool is now entering our enrollment season - new families are visiting and filling in applications. Please share our posts on Facebook or Comment on our pictures as they are posted! Thank you again for all of your support.

Women's League
Our ANNUAL WINE TASTING AND SALE will take place on Saturday, March 21 st  at
 8 PM - FREE , as always In addition, this year, we will be holding a PASSOVER CRAFT PROJECT at the same time, at a cost of $8 per person, led by Julie Wohl.  Plan to come, taste, and create.
 
Dues: Dues are still $36 for the year and include membership in our mother organization. Checks can be made payable to Women's League of Kol Shalom and sent to the synagogue office. Chesed invites you to join us and learn about the innovative SAIL (Simulation to Advance Innovation and Learning) Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Wednesday, March 18 from 1:30 - 3:30 PM at AAMC's Belcher Building, Room 104. Refreshments will follow at Kol Shalom.

Mercaz
