Candle lighting time for Friday,
January 17, is 4:52 PM.

Unless otherwise noted, Shabbat services are held on Friday evenings at 7:30 PM and on Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM.

The Bat Mitzvah of Alyssa Villareal will take place on Saturday, January 18 . Mazal Tov to Alyssa and her family!

A Shiva service will be held at the home of Abraham and Tamyla Abraham (2012 Haverford Drive; Crownsville, MD) on Sunday, January 19 , at 5:30 PM.  Please help Arnold and his family make a minyan.

Our Monday evening service will continue on January 20 beginning at 7 PM.

Please join us for Tot Shabbat on Saturday, January 25. Families with young children are welcome to join us at 10:30 AM for an hour filled with songs, stories, and CHALLAH!! Parents are encouraged to participate and celebrate with us as we introduce Jewish traditions to our little ones and begin building friendships that will last a lifetime! Super Bowl Party
Sunday, February 2 ~ 5:30 PM

Please join the Kol Shalom Men's Club for our annual Lou Davidsburg Memorial Super Bowl Party.  
 
$20 to attend ~ Beer, cold cuts, soft drinks, and nasherei will be served.  This event is open to everyone!

Women's League
Our ANNUAL BOOK DISCUSSION is scheduled for Sunday, January 26 th at 1:30 PM at Susan Zevin’s lovely home. The book is THE HOURS COUNT by Jillian Cantor. The discussion will be led by Marian Figlio. Please RSVP to Linda Rosenberg at [email protected] or 301-249-5154.

Our Annual MISHLOACH MANOT/SHALACH MANOS campaign will be held in February. 

Our ANNUAL WINE TASTING AND SALE will take place on Saturday, March 21 st at 8 PM.  In addition, this year, we will be holding a PASSOVER CRAFT PROJECT at the same time, at a cost of $8 per person, led by Julie Wohl.  Plan to come, taste, and create.

The BALTIMORE JOINT SISTERHOOD DINNER will be held on Thursday, April 23 rd at 6 PM at Temple Beth El in Baltimore.  Couvert is $40pp.

Seaboard Region of WLCJ will be holding SPRING EDUCATION DAY on Sunday, May 3 rd at Olam Tikvah, Fairfax, Virginia from 10am – 2pm.

WOMEN’S LEAGUE SHABBAT will be held on June 5-6.  Details will be forthcoming.

Dues : Dues are still $36 for the year and include membership in our mother organization. Checks can be made payable to Women's League of Kol Shalom and sent to the synagogue office. Chazak
Kol Shalom’s Chazak* is back with a delightful theater/dinner program in February. We will be attending the Sunday, Feb. 23 rd 3PM Naval Academy Music Department’s production of Oklahoma at Mahan Hall, followed by a Prairie Picnic Supper at the synagogue.
 
Tickets for the musical are $ 19 or $16 each and can be ordered directly from the Naval Academy Music’s Department at 410-293-8497 or Navyperforms.showare.com Park at the Naval Academy Stadium lot and shuttle to the theater.
 
Cost for the Prairie Picnic Supper is $10 each payable to Kol Shalom. To reserve a picnic spot, call Louise Reiner at 410-571-9440 or leave an email message at [email protected].   Supper reservations and payment are needed by February 15 th .
 
* Chazak is the 55+ social, cultural and education group for singles and couples.
Chesed
CALENDAR ALERT...CHESED has made arrangements for an orientation visit to the SAIL Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Wednesday, March 18. Please watch for details in the Shofar and reserve space ASAP as space is limited to 25 participants. 
 
The Simulation to Advance Innovation & Learning (SAIL) Center trains Residents, Nursing Staff and other medical personnel in patient care and protocols. With state-of-the-art equipment, Operating Room surgical techniques are refined, physicians' safety, health and expertise are calibrated, infection prevention and patient safety are addressed. This is an opportunity to hear from the Manager of the facility, Dr. Gerald Moses, learn about an invaluable resource in our own backyard, and experience this innovative teaching facility.
