Men's Club

Next Event - NS Savannah

  • When: Sunday, June 4th at 10AM

  • What: A 90-minute private tour of the NS Savannah. The vessel is the one and only nuclear powered passenger cargo ship that was ever built in the US. It was launched in 1962 and operated for 10 years, traveling 450,000 miles with nuclear power, while visiting 45 foreign and 32 US ports and welcoming 1.4 million visitors.

  • Where: In person at Pier 13 in Canton. Address is: 1301 Newgate Avenue, Baltimore, MD which is the first exit on the right on the other side of the Inner Harbor Tunnel. Parking is free on the pier.

  • Unfortunately, this tour is not handicapped accessible and will require significant walking on stairs and through doorways. Please wear comfortable, closed toe shoes. The ship’s store will be open for souvenir purchase, but there is no food available on board.

  • How: Please send an email to Gary Weinfeld at [email protected] to register and with questions you may have. Attendance is limited to the first 25 folks to respond! Not all participants need to drive to Baltimore. Please let Gary know if you wish to carpool from Kol Shalom.

  • There is no cost for this event. As always, donations to the Men's Club are very much appreciated.

Walking Tour of Annapolis

Get ready for our Wednesday, June 7th Walking Tour of Annapolis in conjunction with Ohr Kodesh of Chevy Chase!

A team from both congregations is working to coordinate a fabulous 2-hour morning walking tour (10 AM -12:15 PM) with a well-known professional tour guide, Annapolis character, and Kol Shalom member, “Squire” Richard Hillman.

Click here for more information about the day's schedule.

The cost will be $25.00 per person (lunch not included).  To register, click here to access Hazak: Walking Tour of Jewish Annapolis, which will connect you to the Ohr Kodesh website and the registration form. Clearly, we will not need to carpool to Annapolis from Chevy Chase, so leave that blank. At the end, you will be asked to pay with a credit card. Registration closes Sunday, June 4.

Women's League

WL Week: Pre-Order WLCJ 5784 Calendar Diaries now and they will be distributed at the convention. Order information is in WL Week.

Seaboard Region Bi-Weekly Message: A flyer promoting the Seaboard Region outdoor activity at The National Arboretum, Washington, D.C. on Monday, June 5, 2023 should be in the inbox of all members. If you haven't received it, the details are in SBR Newsletter. Barbara Finkel is requesting a response to her via email rather than registration.

Oneg/Kiddush Donations: It is with thanks that we acknowledge the donations made to the Oneg/Kiddush fund. Howard Salob reads the list at services each Shabbat and we publish the list in The Weekly Shofar as well. Click here to view a list of donations for May 2023. In addition to using the funds to serve food in the building, we are donating funds to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and the Anne Arundel Community College Student Food Bank.
