Volunteers Needed
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1

TO HELP PLANT OUR HILL TO SLOW STORMWATER RUNOFF

You may have heard that Kol Shalom received a $7,000 grant for the design and construction of the rock swale in the back of the building that has stopped much of the erosion and runoff onto our neighbors' properties by redirecting storm water into the pond at the bottom of the hill.

We also received a $1,000 grant from Unity Gardens, plus at least $1,500 from Watershed Stewards Academy, to plant the “grass” eroding slope on either side of the steps. This will require over 80 shrubs, grasses and flowers. Watershed Stewards will be here November 1 to help us clear grass/weeds, to plant and mulch.

But our members are required to be involved, per the terms of the grant, including teens and kids, in this project. If you can give 2 hours that Sunday, please help. Volunteers will be scheduled in 2 hour blocks, to maintain social distancing. If you have a shovel/digging tool and/or a serrated knife (for scoring root balls), please bring them. If you don't, come anyway: WSA will have some available and there will be other tasks.

Allison Charapp is the Volunteer Coordinator. Please email her ASAP at [email protected] to sign up for either 10 AM - 12 PM, 12 PM - 2 PM, or 2 PM - 4 PM.

*Please note that our clocks "fall back" one hour at 2 AM on Sunday, November 1.

Many Thanks! And see you there.

Women's League
Coping During Covid: Pandemics are stressful! How can we cope? Juli Murray, who works for (among others) the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Anne Arundel Community College, will be speaking on "Coping during Covid" on Tuesday, November 10 at 8 pm via Zoom. She will offer practical tips for dealing with stress in difficult times, including for families with children at home. The program is open to all. It is free, but you do need to register by clicking here.

Women's League Dues: It's time to renew your Women's League Membership again. Click here for a membership form and instructions on where to send your dues payment.

Oneg/Kiddush Fund: Due to our being unable to gather together at the synagogue, those who have donated to the Sisterhood’s Oneg/Kiddush fund have been unable to have their occasions recognized. However, that does not make the events any less significant, and it is with thanks that we acknowledge the donations made by the following for Onegs and Kiddushim that would have been had we been together. Click here to see a list of donations to the Oneg/Kiddush Fund for the month of October 2020. Click here to make a donation to the Oneg/Kiddush Fund.

Torah Fund
Hello Everyone,

Thank you very much to everyone who sent to me your generous donations to Torah Fund. Your checks have been sent to the Torah Fund office in New York.

I still have not heard from many of you. I would love it if you are able to send me your donation checks, made out to Torah Fund. That would help our Sisterhood reach our Torah Fund goal. It would also help our seminary students in their education.

Thank you again for your generous donation.
