Passover Schedule:

Wednesday, April 5, 9 AM: Siyum B'Chorim (Fast/Study for the first born)

To commemorate the survival of the first born Hebrews (Bechorim) during the 10th plague against the Egyptians, as detailed in the Passover narrative, there is a custom for first born Jews to fast on the eve of Passover. Our Rabbinic Sages long ago determined that Erev Pesah would be an especially difficult day to abstain from eating. They decided that a Siyum (conclusion) of a rabbinic text study would be a joyous enough occasion to override the custom to fast.

Therefore, annually on the morning of Erev Pesah, we schedule a Siyum opportunity especially inviting (Bechorim)

first born to pray, study, and then share in a celebratory breakfast. Everyone else is also welcome to attend. The breakfast will be hosted and provided by Kol Shalom member, Elie Pallia. Thank you, Elie.

Rabbi Pohl plans to conclude a study of the Talmudic tractate known as Nazir (think of Samson the Nazirite) by the eve of Passover. Please join Rabbi Pohl on Wednesday, April 5 at 9 AM (IN PERSON ONLY) to study the text that ends Tractate Nazir.

Women's League

As announced in the meeting on Sunday, our Sisterhood has been invited to an evening of dinner and entertainment. This is an annual event that Kol Shalom Sisterhood has attended for years before the shutdown. Usually, we would carpool and other members would attend to meet with family and friends. I would love to continue this practice. If you think you might like to venture out for an evening with sisters from the region. let's go! As usual, email or call at your convenience. I will respond as quickly as possible.

Kol Shalom Men's Club Event

Ron will discuss the history of the lighthouse and his personal experiences as lighthouse keeper aboard this still active aid to navigation.
