Shabbat and Weekly Services
Candle lighting time for Friday, January 14, is 4:49 PM.

Friday evening service will be held via Zoom only on January 14 at 5:30 PM. Click here for the Zoom link.

Shabbat service will be held in person and via Zoom on Saturday, January 15, beginning at 9:30 AM. The Torah portion will be Parshat Beshalach. Click here for the Zoom link.

PLEASE NOTE THAT MASKS ARE REQUIRED OF EVERYONE ATTENDING SHABBAT SERVICES IN PERSON, INCLUDING THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN FULLY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19.

Guest Speaker Daryl Davis
On Shabbat morning, January 15, 2022, we will be happy to welcome guest speaker Daryl Davis, award-winning musician, Race Reconciliator, and lecturer. Daryl was the first Black author to interview KKK leaders and members, detailed in his highly acclaimed book, KlanDestine Relationships. Today, Daryl owns numerous Klan robes and hoods, given to him by active members who renounced their racist ideology after meeting him. His book, The Klan Whisperer, is due out in 2022. School News

Both of our schools continue to collect for the Anne Arundel Food Bank. Much needed grocery items include peanut butter & jelly (plastic jars), 1-pound bags or boxes of rice, 1-pound bags of dry beans (pinto, black, mixed), healthy snacks (breakfast bars, dried fruit), baby food, and ensure/nutritional supplements.

Women's League
One hundred plus years later, Women's League is as dedicated today as it was in 1918 to the creation of a vibrant worldwide Jewish Community: One that nurtures the individual, family, and community with the values of Jewish tradition. This week, January 15, is worldwide Women's League Shabbat for Conservative Judaism sisterhoods.  Click here for more information.

January 23, 2022 at 1:30 PM: Please join the community sisterhood at Kol Shalom, Annapolis, for our annual book review (via Zoom). The book title is People Love Dead Jews by Dara Horn. Oneg/Kiddush Fund: Although we are unable to serve Onegs and Kiddushes at the synagogue at this time, we are still able to recognize your occasions. It is with thanks that we acknowledge the donations made. Howard Salob reads the list at services each Shabbat and we publish the list in The Weekly Shofar as well. Until we are able to serve food again in the building we are donating half of the funds to the AA County Food Bank and the AACC Help Link Program. 

Feed Your Neshamah (Soul)
Expressive Arts Tu B’Shevat Seder
Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 7:30 PM on Zoom

Join Julie Wohl and Gabby Kaplan-Mayer for a creative arts Tu B’Shevat experience over Zoom. Together we will celebrate the Jewish New Year of the trees with a Tu B’shevat seder incorporating gentle art and writing prompts, meditations and music. No artistic background needed!

Zentangle
The Zentangle Meditative Art class is held via Zoom on Wednesday mornings beginning at 10 AM. No art background needed or required. Please have the following items available: several sheets of copy paper, a no.2 sharpened pencil, a black pen with a fine tip and good ink flow, a Q-tip and a scissors (to cut out our drawing paper).

If you have an item you would like to include in the Weekly Shofar, please compose and e-mail your submission to the synagogue office (see e-mail address below) no later than the preceding Tuesday. Any items received after this time will be held for the following week's announcements.
