3 Iyar, 5781 - 9 Iyar, 5781
In an effort to reduce the spread of Covid 19, access to our building is limited. Our synagogue office voice mail and e-mail are accessible and checked daily (excluding Saturday and Sunday). Information regarding livestream services and events can be found below.

Should you need to visit the synagogue building, please be mindful of our neighbors who live at the bottom of Hidden Meadow Lane. It can be quite difficult and dangerous for those driving up the hill to stop for vehicles turning left into our parking lot. Before entering the Kol Shalom parking lot, please slow down, stop, and make sure the road past our synagogue is clear of oncoming traffic.

Movie Night at Kol Shalom
In observance of Yom Hashoah, which was commemorated on April 8, Kol Shalom movie night presents “Music Box” by way of zoom (link to be provided) on Thursday, April 22 at 7 PM

Hungarian immigrant Mike Laszlo has done well for himself since arriving in the USA after immigrating at the end of WWII. He is particularly proud of his daughter, Ann (played by Jessica Lange), a successful lawyer. Following the release of some secret WWII records by the Russians, Mike finds himself accused of being a notorious war criminal in Budapest. He's convinced it's a Communist plot to discredit him and insists that Ann defend him in court to prevent his extradition to Hungary.

Music Box was written by Joe Eszterhas based on his own life and is loosely based on the real life case of John Demjanjuk. Filmed on site in Chicago and Budapest, Hungary, this 1989 PG-13 rated (occasional profanity and some description of violent acts) Shoah court drama runs for 2 hours and 6 minutes. Although a little longer than previous movies, you won’t want to miss any of it!

Special Guest Lecture
Please join us on Monday, May 3, immediately following our (ten minute) 7 PM Mincha Service, as we host Rabbi Dan Ornstein for a lecture titled "Adam Raised A Cain": What The Story of the World's First Murderer Might Be Telling Us About Teshuvah (Repentance) and Ourselves.

Rabbi Ornstein has served as spiritual leader of Congregation Ohav Shalom in Albany, NY, for more than 25 years. He is the author of a new book, Cain v. Abel; A Jewish Courtroom Drama.

A Zoom link for the event will be provided as the date draws closer.
