Winter Relief

Kol Shalom returns to hosting Winter Relief after a two-year hiatus during the height of the pandemic. Winter Relief is a program run by the nonprofit Arundel House of Hope which provides temporary emergency shelter to homeless people through local churches and synagogues. We will host up to 25 homeless men from the afternoon of Monday, December 19, 2022, to the morning of Thursday, December 22.

Please help us provide a welcoming, safe environment for our guests! Volunteers are needed for host shifts at the synagogue during the hours our guests are there, including overnight; and to provide meals (including serving and cleaning up after). We encourage people to team up to provide meals (either catered or homemade). We also need help setting up the synagogue and cleaning up after our guests have moved on.

Please click here to sign up through the SignupGenius link. If the slots are full for a volunteer spot you want, please contact Janice Krasnow at [email protected]. Monetary donations are also welcome - please include “Winter Relief” in the memo line.
