Congrats 2023 WGA Community Service Honoree Mick Kneeland from Viking Village Foods!

Congrats to Mick Kneeland for being recognized for his Community Service! The surprise presentation was held Thursday morning, August 17th at Viking Village Foods. Kneeland was nominated by Pam Coy, Owner and General Operation Manager of Viking Village Foods.

Kneeland has always worked with community groups to have successful fundraisers. Whenever a local school needed help with their events, Mick was there. For over 20 years he has helped cook for the teachers' annual picnics. Kneeland was key in organizing the annual Great Steak Cookout fundraiser for the last 15 years. This event supported the high school’s activities department and raised over $220,535.

Kneeland has been in the grocery business since he was 8 years old. “He is very dedicated to the grocery industry” said Coy. Kneeland has had a lifetime of grocer experience and knowledge as he is retiring at the end of the year. When it comes to training the next generation, Kneeland has been key to having students join the grocery industry. Due to his many years in the grocery industry Kneeland has many vendors and colleague contact in the industry that help keep the store running successfully.

Each week a WGA Award Winner will be highlighted in the Weekly Special. Keep an eye out to learn more about the winners!
