Queens River Kayak

South County is home to some of the most scenic, fresh water rivers in the state.  The Queens River, Wood River, and Pawcatuck River are beautiful locations. The Queens River main location on the Richmond/South Kingstown line, is in close proximity to all Southern Rhode Island's river access points. All three rivers are fun for all ages and skill levels, and each offers special and unique sights and experiences. The Queen's River is a quiet, beautiful river perfect for families and those looking for relaxation. For more of a challenge, the Upper Wood River requires more experience and is full of wonder and the Pawcatuck River delivers both leisure and adventure.

Be sure to spend some time at Kenyon Grist Mill before or after your paddle. Kenyon's Grist Mill still grinds in a vintage, 1886 grist mill and continues to use the original granite millstones quarried from Westerly. These huge stones produce the exceptional texture and quality not found in modern, steel ground flours.  Try their wholesome pancake, corn muffin, and bread mixes, as well as other meals and flours. Kenyon's is famous for their Johnny Cake Meal and Clam Cake Mix. Look for them at the Charlestown Seafood Festival and try their clam cakes!
