Yield to Pedestrians Signs: We have installed new pedestrian signs at the crosswalk at the intersection of SW 148th Drive and 82nd Avenue reminding drivers that they must yield to pedestrians. Bright yellow signs were installed following the completion of the new pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection to improve pedestrian safety. County officials recently removed the 4-way stop signs at the intersection, citing that the signs were unnecessary at this location. The county action prompted the Village to install a new pedestrian crosswalk. WLRN has reported on the issue.

More information will be provided as Village officials continue the dialogue with Miami-Dade County.

Traffic Engineer to Review Comprehensive Traffic Plan

This past Monday, October 17th, the Village Council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Marlin Engineering to review the Village's Comprehensive Traffic Plan and recommend practical solutions to issues such as cut-through traffic and speeding. A budget will accompany the recommendations. The process includes public meetings with stakeholders such as homeowners, county officials and schools. Funding for the study is provided through the Transportation Sales Tax, which is part of the Village's portion of the People's Transportation Plan funding.

Palmer Trinity School Street Closure

The Village has received notification from Palmer Trinity School that roadwork is starting sometime next week on Old Cutler Road and SW 184 Street. Work includes the construction of a right-turn lane off Old Cutler onto SW 184 St.

One southbound lane on Old Cutler Road will be closed, but traffic will stay open through the southbound turn lane. Traffic may move slower than usual through the area. Please use caution.

The work is expected to be completed within four weeks.
