WEEK OF 5/26/17

Light Rail Extension Letter: The Village of Palmetto Bay with the Town Cutler Bay have issued a letter to Miami-Dade County Mayor Gimenez to express disagreement with new direction to replace light rail with autonomous vehicles. Click here to view a copy of the letter.

Telephonic Town Hall: As previously reported, due to the volume of calls and time restraints, we were not able to answer every question from our callers at the Telephonic Town Hall Meeting on May 16th. The questions were recorded by our moderators and responses will be provided in the near future by the Village on our website. The item will be posted under “News Flash” and a link will also be included on our social media pages. If you weren't able to dial in during the Town Hall, click here to download the meeting’s audio and hear the information that was presented. Click here to view results of our polling questions where 63% of callers believe that the bridging of 87th Avenue would NOT reduce traffic congestion on that road.

Traffic Calming Updates: Earlier today, we sent out a press release announcing that the "no right-turn signs" along the northbound lane of SW 87 Avenue will remain in place for a total of six months following the completion of the traffic circle at the intersection of SW 82 Avenue and SW 168 Street. Construction for the traffic circle is set to begin within the next two months.

We also know that an additional pilot program conducted by the Village is coming to the intersection of SW 84 Avenue and SW 164 Street that will divert traffic back to SW 82 Avenue.  Read the press release to find out more.

FDOT Project:  Beginning this morning, all traffic on SW 152 Street/Coral Reef Drive from just west of SW 93 Avenue to just west of SW 97 Avenue was shifted to the south side of the roadway. The westbound and eastbound travel lanes were reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the southside of the roadway (see  map ). This traffic pattern will be in effect for approximately one and a half months to allow the contractor to repair and resurface the north section of the bridge over the C-100 Canal.

In order to prepare for the traffic shift, there will be alternating single lane closures on Coral Reef Drive/SW 152 Street from SW 93 Avenue to SW 102 Avenue on Thursday, May 25 (Tuesday, May 30 is an alternate date) between the hours of 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unexpected conditions.
