We'll cover everything you need to know, from applying to REUs to setting up a lab position at Tech for the summer. We’ll also be discussing ways to pursue research related summer opportunities at major companies. We’ll be talking about opportunities for a variety of majors, so stop by if you’re interested in summer research in any capacity.

President's Undergraduate Research Awards fund student salaries to conduct undergraduate research with Georgia Tech faculty and offset travel expenses for undergraduates to present their research at professional conferences. Between two hundred and three hundred competitive awards are offered each year. |

Salary Awards offer a $1,500 stipend to undergraduate students who are conducting research with a Georgia Tech faculty member or Georgia Tech Research Institute scientist. Both faculty members and students can initiate research projects, but the award proposal must be written by the student, and the student must apply by the established deadline for the semester in which the funds are requested. Funds are competitively awarded.Co-op students or students with full-time paid internships during a semester may not accept PURA funding during that same semester.

Undergraduate students whose research has been accepted for presentation at a professional or academic conference may apply for up to $1,000 in PURA Travel Award funding. Multiple travel awards can be granted within the same academic year, and students may receive a travel award during the same semester of salary award funding. Funds are competitively awarded.
At this time, we are only accepting PURA travel award applications for registration to attend virtual conferences. We will not be funding in person travel at this time. Please email Allyson Tant at [email protected] if you have further questions.
Applications are to be submitted no earlier than three months prior to the anticipated conference date and no later than one month prior to the anticipated conference date.

The purpose of the MAOP Undergraduate Summer Research Internship (SRI) is to provide undergraduates from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to conduct research on campus and to educate participants about graduate education. Students from a wide variety of academic disciplines spend ten weeks during the summer, working closely with a faculty mentor in a mentor/protege relationship to design, conduct, and present a scholarly research presentation.
Students interact with other student researchers, faculty and graduate students in different areas of study, using state-of-the-art equipment, and attend seminars on the nature of graduate education. Students also prepare to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and receive counseling on gaining admission to graduate school and available funding opportunities.

The Van Andel Institute (VAI) offers a research internship program designed to provide medical students the opportunity to work closely with a research mentor on a project exploring the cellular, molecular, and genetic basis of human disease. The goal of this program is to introduce medical students to the concepts and practice of design, implementation, interpretation, and presentation of basic biomedical research.
Complete applications are reviewed on a rolling basis from December 2020 through March 2021.

Poster House seeks qualified interns to assist with a variety of projects this summer at the museum. Poster House is the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history and design of posters. Poster House presents exhibitions, educational programs, and public events that investigate the history and design of this ephemeral medium that speaks to broad audiences.
At this time, all Poster House internships for Summer 2021 will be virtual. The only exception will be the Collection Intern, who should be NYC-based as they will be onsite at the museum one day a week as agreed upon with the Collections Manager and Director of Operations.

Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL) is seeking undergraduate students for assignments within the National Security Internship Program (NSIP). The Computing and Analytics Division is looking for individuals who have a passion for solving critical national challenges using advanced computational, statistical, and mathematical techniques.
The intern will be given an opportunity to be presented with complex problems in national security, energy, and science; apply cutting-edge research to make our nation safer and stronger; develop complex computer code; develop and participate in cyber competitions; design new visualization; work with big data, and optimize solutions in diverse domains.

A 10-week program for undergraduates who wish to work closely with Harvard Business School faculty on research projects on topics ranging from business strategy to social media, and form innovation management to private equity. The tentative program dates for summer 2021 are June 5, 2021 to August 14, 2021.
Student applications for the 2021 program are now open and will be due on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 12:00 pm EST.

The FBRI Molecular Visualization SURF program is a 10-week long summer program that gives students the opportunity to participate in hypothesis-driven independent research at Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC in Roanoke, Virginia. Students will participate in a weekly workshop series to provide hands-on experience in the cutting edge imaging technologies housed within FBRI to understand appropriate application of each technology in understanding biological processes.
Some of the objectives of the FBRI Molecular Visualization SURF program's objectives include: to expose undergraduate students to the broad scope of molecular visualization technologies available to interrogate fundamentals of biological processes in health and disease and to provide hands-on research experiences within the multidisciplinary environment of the FBRI where application of these cutting edge imaging technologies is applied in fundamental and translational research.

Undergraduates are invited to apply for a ten-week research program hosted by Georgia Tech School of earth and Atmospheric Sciences during Summer 2021.
Working under the supervision of an EAS faculty member, participants will focus on a single research project but also gain a broad perspective on research in earth and atmospheric sciences by participating in the dynamic research environment. This interdisciplinary REU program has projects ranging from planetary science to meteorology to oceanography.

In the Summer of 2021 Department of Mathematical Sciences and Ocean Engineering & Marine Sciences will host undergraduate students from around the US. For 8 weeks these students will participate in Statistical Models with Applications to Geoscience research program and learn the skills necessary for a successful scientific career.
Special seminars will be held to increase students' public speaking and presentation skills. Special workshops will be held to develop, gain, and improve students' analytical thinking, data analysis, and coding skills. Students will learn from experience about scientific research and how to apply their academic work to real-world problems.
