Wondering how to put your research experience on your resume? Curious about research opportunities/internships in industry? Come learn about how research experiences can be beneficial for students planning on going into industry with the Undergraduate Research Ambassadors! We’ll be covering everything from how to put research experiences on your resume to incorporating research in your elevator pitch for recruiters. We’ll also be discussing opportunities to do research in an industry setting. Come by our virtual workshop on Thursday, February 25th from 11am-12pm.

Beginning February 22, Georgia Tech faculty, graduate teaching assistants (GTA), and students will have the opportunity to participate in one of a series of 24 listening sessions focusing on their classroom experiences this semester. The one-hour sessions hosted by the Academic Restart Task Force will help inform continuous improvement efforts for spring and will be shared with campus administrators and the Institute Restart Task Forces. The goal of the series is to provide insight into perceptions of instructional effectiveness, student engagement, the usefulness of technology, and consistency/clarity of communication and expectations. Sessions for faculty will focus on a specific course mode. President's Undergraduate Research Awards fund student salaries to conduct undergraduate research with Georgia Tech faculty and offset travel expenses for undergraduates to present their research at professional conferences. Between two hundred and three hundred competitive awards are offered each year. |

Salary Awards offer a $1,500 stipend to undergraduate students who are conducting research with a Georgia Tech faculty member or Georgia Tech Research Institute scientist. Both faculty members and students can initiate research projects, but the award proposal must be written by the student, and the student must apply by the established deadline for the semester in which the funds are requested. Funds are competitively awarded.Co-op students or students with full-time paid internships during a semester may not accept PURA funding during that same semester. Undergraduate students whose research has been accepted for presentation at a professional or academic conference may apply for up to $1,000 in PURA Travel Award funding. Multiple travel awards can be granted within the same academic year, and students may receive a travel award during the same semester of salary award funding. Funds are competitively awarded.
At this time, we are only accepting PURA travel award applications for registration to attend virtual conferences. We will not be funding in person travel at this time. Please email Recha Reid at [email protected] if you have further questions.
Applications are to be submitted no earlier than three months prior to the anticipated conference date and no later than one month prior to the anticipated conference date.

The Division of Student Life is pleased to announce the availability of The Alvin M. Ferst Leadership and Entrepreneur Award. This $3,000 award goes to a junior or senior with at least a 2.5 GPA who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and/or entrepreneurial skills while at Tech.
The Alvin M. Ferst Leadership and Entrepreneur Award will be recognized at the virtual Student Honors Celebration on April 6, 2021.
The deadline to submit the application is noon, March 3, 2021.

Poster House seeks qualified interns to assist with a variety of projects this summer at the museum. Poster House is the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history and design of posters. Poster House presents exhibitions, educational programs, and public events that investigate the history and design of this ephemeral medium that speaks to broad audiences.
At this time, all Poster House internships for Summer 2021 will be virtual. The only exception will be the Collection Intern, who should be NYC-based as they will be onsite at the museum one day a week as agreed upon with the Collections Manager and Director of Operations.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL) Visiting Scientist Program is offering 10-week summer internships for undergraduate students. As a TSL summer Intern, you will:
-Receive hands-on experience in your field and network with top scientists and researchers
-Have access to unique facilities and state-of-the-art equipment in explosives detection and mitigation
-Enhance your academic and professional preparation to pursue a career in disciplines that support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security

The Van Andel Institute (VAI) offers a research internship program designed to provide medical students the opportunity to work closely with a research mentor on a project exploring the cellular, molecular, and genetic basis of human disease. The goal of this program is to introduce medical students to the concepts and practice of design, implementation, interpretation, and presentation of basic biomedical research.
Complete applications are reviewed on a rolling basis from December 2020 through March 2021.

Undergraduates are invited to apply for a ten-week research program hosted by Georgia Tech School of earth and Atmospheric Sciences during Summer 2021.
Working under the supervision of an EAS faculty member, participants will focus on a single research project but also gain a broad perspective on research in earth and atmospheric sciences by participating in the dynamic research environment. This interdisciplinary REU program has projects ranging from planetary science to meteorology to oceanography.

In the Summer of 2021 Department of Mathematical Sciences and Ocean Engineering & Marine Sciences will host undergraduate students from around the US. For 8 weeks these students will participate in Statistical Models with Applications to Geoscience research program and learn the skills necessary for a successful scientific career.
Special seminars will be held to increase students' public speaking and presentation skills. Special workshops will be held to develop, gain, and improve students' analytical thinking, data analysis, and coding skills. Students will learn from experience about scientific research and how to apply their academic work to real-world problems.

One unique feature of the Nebraska Summer Research Program is the partnership between the REU and SROP programs and the Office of Graduate Studies. Students benefit in having a community of scholars in which to learn and to share research with.
This intensive summer research experience provides mentoring and research experiences while allowing scholars to preview graduate school life. Students with a strong interest in graduate programs are particularly encouraged to apply, as are those from populations traditionally underrepresented in graduate education.

RASC-AL competitions fuel innovation for aerospace systems concepts, analogs, and technology prototyping by bridging gaps through university engagement. RASC-AL is open to undergraduate and graduate university-level students studying fields with applications to human space exploration.
RASC-AL projects allow students to incorporate their coursework into real aerospace design concepts and work together in a team environment. Through RASC-AL, teams and their faculty advisors will design innovative solutions with supporting original engineering and analysis in response to one of the following themes: Durable Low-Mass Lunar Surface Habitat, Minimum Mars Ascent Vehicle, Venus Flyby Mission, and more.

The Diversifying Scholarship Research Conference features research by undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty that include topics of diversity, inequality, bias, and inclusivity. The goal of the event is to highlight research on marginalized topics and promote diversity in scholarly endeavors.
This event will highlight the diverse research being done across ground in the arts, social and physical sciences, humanities, education, and beyond. We seek to promote connections among undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty from different disciplines, fostering a commitment to inclusive research, pedagogy and collaborative problem solving on social issues.
