In response to God, who reached down to us - the mission of First Immanuel Lutheran Ministries is to reach up to God, reach in to each other and reach out to the world.

CURRENT SERMON SERIES

We all need a place “where everybody knows your name.” We yearn for it, crave it. Humans are social creatures, embedded in families and communities and countries.

Using the frame of Reach Groups, mentoring, and our homes, we will address what it means to know and to be fully known, in light of Jesus' love. Join us this June in worship for worship services sure to bless you and those in your community.

WHY WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO GO WRONG?

Picture yourself starving and near death. Someone freely hands you a piece of fruit or a sandwich. What would you do with it? Would you put it in your pocket and pull it out in a “time of need?” Ridiculous! Starvation is a time of need.

Faith isn’t something we pocket and only pull out in a perceived time of need. But, it is not unusual to see those who have been blessed with faith failing to employ that faith, until some problem arises or a challenge blocks their personal plans.

But Scripture teaches us that prayer is an important part of continuing strong in faith.

Matthew 26:41 - Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

James 5:16 - Pray for one another.

I Thessalonians 5:17 – Pray without ceasing.

Let us not wait for times of trouble and pain before we offer our prayers to the Lord. Instead, let us heed the encouragement of St. Paul who said in Colossians 4:2, Continue steadfastly in prayer.

Praying for One Another

All who battle cancer, including Marilyn Aussprung, Jim Melichar, Pastor Joel Brandt, Bob Harrer, Gary Pipkorn, Adrian Buntrock, Gary Bergin, Wayne Kokta, and Tammy Schleuter. Pray that the Lord would bless their treatments, relieve their pain and strengthen them and their families in faith.
Eugene Bentley, Lillian Pergande, Audrey Pelzer and Mary & Jim Heiman as they contend with ongoing health issues. Pray for their medical teams, that God would bless them and use them as His instruments of healing.
Remember in prayer those celebrating wedding anniversaries, including:

Pam & Dave Brown – 40 years
Lois & Tom Giordano – 51 years
Pray for Georgina & Pastor Ayagri as they travel to Cedarburg from Ghana, Africa. Pray for safe travel and a joyful time in the United States.

Our June Mission of the Month is

The Youth Service Event

Our First Immanuel Lutheran Youth will be traveling to Keweenaw Base Camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on August 1st to help with construction of two cabins that will be used for the camp's summer youth programs. FIL youth will also be involved in some community outreach during their five day stay at the camp. The goal is to raise $6000 to pay for materials for one cabin. Please pray for our youth and this mission project.

STEPHEN MINISTRY MOMENT

They have gone through 50 hours of training in providing Christian care so that they can focus on your needs and listen to what you really need to say. To find out if a confidential, caring Stephen Minister relationship might be helpful to you or someone you know, please contact Pastor Reichmann at 377-6610. Please remember to ask the other person’s permission before you make a referral.

Communion Information Communion will resume being offered each Sunday at River of Life at the 8:00 am worship. It will continue to be offered on the 1st & 3rd Sunday at the other worship services at First Immanuel and River of Life.

Adult Bible Studies

In Person Options:

· Sundays - After 8:00 am worship at River of Life & 8:45 am at First Immanuel (resumes in the fall)

· Woman’s Bible Study - 9:00 am 2nd & 4th Tuesday mornings River of Life (resumes in the fall)

· Wednesdays - 9:00 am & 6:30 pm First Immanuel.

· Breakfast Bible Study - 6:00 am, Friday morning once a month on the First Immanuel campus. Next Study July 2nd

· Men’s Round Table - 7:30 am 1st & 3rd Saturday mornings on the First Immanuel Campus.

Volunteer Opportunities

· Adopt A Highway - Help with the clean-up! July 13th 6:00 pm—8:00 pm & September 25th 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Contact Karl at KRoeske@fils.org to let him know you can help.

· Milwaukee Rescue Mission - Help serve a Meal Tuesdays from 3:00-6:30 pm. If you are interested in volunteering contact Karl at: KRoeske@fils.org

· Coffee Ministry - This ministry is resuming July 10/11 weekend! Please contact Danielle at DHalpin@fils.org or (262) 377-6610 to volunteers for supplying baked goods, making coffee and/or helping serve between services.

Donate Blood - The community is welcome and encouraged to give blood at a blood drive hosted by Trinity Lutheran in Cedarburg on Saturday, July 17th from 8:30am-12:30pm. Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin recently issued an emergency appeal for blood donations as communities across the state face a potential crisis with blood supplies dropping to critically low levels. Lutherans for Life - The Ozaukee County Life Chapter needs your help! The group will have a booth at the Ozaukee County Fair Wednesday, July 28th -Sunday, August 1st, and the booth times are 10am-12 noon, 12 noon-2pm, 2-4 pm, 4-6 pm, 6-8 pm and 8-10 pm.
